Marilyn and Jed were around constantly, the fridge full of amazing meals he’d cooked. Macy and Caroline constantly stopped in, and the entire Amber chapter had driven up for the party Macy had insisted we have for the baby, and to celebrate me not dying while having said baby. She’d said that as a joke, but I think the only thing that saved her from Hades’s wrath was the fact she was his president’s wife and one of my closest friends.
I was utterly spoiled. I knew that the first few months of a new mother’s life were usually hell. Full of uncertainty, of sleepless nights, of a crying child. Sure, I was terrified I’d do something wrong and accidentally kill or maim my daughter. And my body had gone through hell. Hormones made it so I cried at the drop of a hat.
But for the most part, it was magical. My atypical sleep schedule meant that things didn’t change all that much. It was like I’d already unwittingly trained myself for a newborn and nightly feedings. Eva herself was a magical baby. She was unexpectedly placid. Sure, she fussed when she was gassy or hungry, but she never screamed. Not once. And if she seemed like she was getting upset, whoever held her just handed her to her ever-present father.
Although I didn’t think it was possible, I fell more in love with Hades in the six weeks after Eva was born. He was patient, gentle, unyielding, devoted. To both of us.
The six weeks without sex was fucking torture, though.
Given everything that had happened down there, I’d figured that I wouldn’t be interested in anything happening down there for a long time.
I’d figured wrong. Very wrong.
Hades, interestingly, was very adamant about the rules the doctors had communicated.
“Baby, that’s one of my favorite areas on your body, so I’m not going in there until cleared by a medical professional,” he’d murmured when I’d tried to seduce him one particularly frustrating evening. Right after he’d burped Eva. Shirtless.
No woman could resist that. Not even a woman recovering from a particularly traumatic birth.
“I thought you were an outlaw, that you didn’t let any kind of professional tell you what to do,” I’d griped in frustration.
His lips turned up, gifting me with one of his rare smiles. “When it comes to your cunt, Freya, I’m following the rules.” He’d moved closer to kiss me. “Once we’re clear, I’ll bury myself in that cunt for weeks. Don’t you worry about that.”
Frustrated, I’d placed my palm against his chest and pushed him down on the bed. “Fine, if I can’t get off, then I’m getting you off.”
Hades had not argued about that.
Epilogue
Macy had been very excited about the party for the baby. And very insistent that we go shopping for the perfect dress. Apparently with Gwen and Amy coming, they’d decided to make it a little classier than the usual Sons of Templar parties. It was black and white themed.
I had no idea how the women had managed to get their badass husbands to agree to a theme, but then again, most wore black like it was the only shade that existed, so it wasn’t like they had to do anything different.
It was obvious then, according to Macy, that the women would all wear white. I’d tried to argue with Macy on this, self-conscious of my six-week post-partum body and the unforgiving shade of white.
But then we’d found the dress. A bias-cut, long-sleeved, maxi dress. It skimmed over the bits that I was self-conscious about and clung to the curves I was now proud of. Especially with the lingerie that Macy had found that was sexy and flattering at the same time. A white, strapless bustier which pushed up my new, gigantic breasts. Panties that revealed my entire ass and a garter belt that clipped onto my lace topped stockings.
“Why aren’t you buying anything?” I asked, struggling with my many bags. I’d had to get shoes to go with the dress. Louboutins. I’d also had to get new shoes because my feet had not shrunk back down to their regular size.
It was a good thing that I could afford to replace the majority of them. My pregnancy series on my YouTube channel had generated more views than ever, and I had sponsorships and income like never before. Hades had, as promised, paid for all the household expenses. I, as promised, had done a lot of shopping for our household. And for Hades.
“My dress already arrived yesterday,” Macy replied to my question with a wink.
I hadn’t thought about the fanfare of the party. There were too many wonderful things happening in my life.
It was only then, on the day, in that moment, that I realized what the party was.
A wedding.
My wedding.
Our house was full of people because I’d insisted we’d have the party there. Macy had quickly agreed to that, and I understood why when I walked into our backyard.
