No one besides Karrie knows what I do. They just think I’m living off my family’s money, and I work for them by taking care of their websites. I open my emails and start getting my article ready.

How much sex is too much?

I read my first email.

My boyfriend and I started dating and have only been intimate twice in four months. I want to have sex more. Should I ask for it or just be happy with what I have?

Signed, Sexually Frustrated.

I shake my head. “You aren’t the only one sexually frustrated, my sister,” I say but then get into serial dater mode.

Dear Sexually Frustrated,

There is nothing wrong with asking for more sex. In fact, it’s a healthy thing. I mean, would he rather you ask him for sex, or you go out and get it on the side? You have two choices here. One: ask him for more sex and hope that he agrees. Two: get really familiar with the closest sex shop as you will be visiting them for new toys every two to three months. In case you chose number two, here are my list of top vibrators that keep me company on a cold night …

I answer five more questions and then start my blog post while I’m on a roll. The sun has long set, so I turn on the salt lamp in the office for a soft glow. I also pick up my laptop and walk to the gray velvet chaise I have in the corner.

Another Summer Recap

It’s time to pack up the sunscreen, put on the shutters, and drain the hot tub. Summer weekends in the Hamptons are almost over. I can’t believe how the time has passed. It feels like just yesterday I was packing my bikini and a box of condoms. Although this summer has been tamer than the others, I’ll still miss rushing out of town at just the right time to avoid the dreaded traffic. But all that traffic brought in all the man candy I could want, and did I ever sample.

Now it’s time to cover up my naughty bits. Until next year, Hampton!

I attach pictures of the beach, one of my legs in the hot tub, and one of me by myself because I somehow became a hermit. I shut down the laptop and put it on the side table, then get up, stretching. “Fall, I am ready for you,” I say to the universe, not knowing that I was, in fact, not even close to ready.

Chapter Two

Mark

* * *

“You have two meetings this week.” I put my cup of coffee down on my desk in my home office. My assistant, Tracy, sits in front of me with her planner open while she takes notes.

“What meetings?” I ask her, looking down at my own agenda. I am finally back in the city after spending the summer going around the US. From the minute the season was over, I had a detailed travel schedule. Every other week, I was in a different city visiting my businesses. As well as goalie for the New York Stingers, I am also a multimillionaire business owner, but no one really knows. There is a reason everyone calls me PM, Private Mark. Don’t ask because I don’t tell. I keep my stuff private and only give what I want to give them. The reporters know that if they ask me about anything but hockey, I have no time to talk to them.

“We have two more stores opening, one in Milwaukee and one in New Orleans,” she says, and I turn in my chair and look out the floor-to-ceiling window. It’s a sunny day today, and the water looks almost blue. You would never know you’re in New York.

“Did we confirm the leases for those two locations yet?” I ask her. Fifteen years ago when I first started out in the NHL and was drafted fifth overall for Nashville, I moved out there on my own. At only eighteen, I had my own little studio apartment, but I was lonely as fuck. My mother is Italian, and my father is Greek, so to say I have a big family is an understatement. It’s also expected that they’d be in my business. No matter how many times I told my mother it was a secret, her sisters or her cousins always found out somehow. Now here I am all by myself. My family is in Canada, so I have myself an English Bulldog I call Brutus. Except I didn’t think about what I would do with him when I was gone. I needed someone to come over and feed him and walk him. Getting someone was impossible at times, and more often than not, he ended up spending a week in a kennel.

It was while I was taking him to the vet for kennel cough that I came up with an idea to get a dog walker. I created an app with the help of my brother to connect people who could walk the dog with people who needed the service. So here I was, starting the Walk ’N’ Licks Dog Walking App. It blew up right before my eyes, so then I opened my first doggy daycare in Nashville under the same name. The demand just kept coming in from all around the world, so now I’ve opened fifty locations all across Canada and the US. And as of two years ago, I even added a grooming service.
