I shook my head. “I’m trying to think of a way to surprise him,” I told him, not realizing Axel had walked into the kitchen with Alli at that moment.
“Surprise me for what?” Axel asked.
I groaned and glared up at Julian. He only flashed me a sexy, wicked smirk before he moved away from me to go clean up Holden’s mess. I sighed, scowling at Julian’s back for ruining my surprise. “Well, since Julian is a dick, there’s no point in trying to hide it now,” I said. Julian snickered. “I’m pregnant again,” I told Axel. His eyes widened in shock.
“Pregnant?” he asked.
“Your kid this time, bro,” Julian told him as he threw away all of the food that Holden had knocked to the floor. Holden squealed again, and I shot him a smile, making him giggle as he clapped his hands together. “I get to marry her,” he said with a wink in my direction, “so I’ve been wrapping it up for that reason every time we have sex. She’s definitely carrying your baby.”
Axel stared at my belly, completely shocked. Nervousness swirled in my gut, and my chest began to ache. “Surprise?” I asked quietly, now completely unsure. I thought this had been what he wanted. I carried Julian’s child first, and even though Axel and Julian had hyphenated their names, Julian was technically going to be the one to marry me, even though I wore both of their rings.
Tears filled my eyes, and I rubbed at the center of my chest with the heel of my hand. “Axel, please say something,” I begged him.
He quickly moved over to me and knelt on the floor in front of me. Slowly, he slid my shirt up until he revealed my belly. “You’re really pregnant?” he asked me. “With my kid?”
I nodded. “Julian wanted us to have this together,” I told him, my voice cracking.
Axel pressed a tender kiss to my belly before he stood up and yanked me into his arms, pressing his lips to mine. “Julian, you’ve got Holden,” Axel told him as he swept me up into his arms. I giggled and buried my face in his neck.
Julian barked out a laugh. “Close the door so your sister isn’t forced to hear!” he called out behind us.
Alli laughed at Julian. Axel released a low growl as he kicked the bedroom door shut behind us. Then, he pressed me against it, his lips covering mine.
“Fuck if my sister hears,” he growled. “You just gave me one of the greatest gifts in the world.”
I moaned when he pressed his lips to mine, taking my lips in a kiss so savage that it tore at the very fiber of my being in the best, most beautiful way possible.
Epilogue
“Holden, stop!” I shouted as he shoved his little sister into the dirt.
“What the fuck is going on?” Julian demanded as he stepped outside with Axel right behind him.
“Your son is being a bully,” I snapped.
Holden stomped his foot. Christ, he really got some of his dad’s most aggravating traits. “She got dirt in my socks!” he yelled.
Axel sighed. “So that gives you the right to push your sister into the dirt?” he asked as the two of them walked over. Julian helped Lana up. She sniffled, tears in her eyes, but she wasn’t letting them fall.
“That’s my girl,” Julian said as he smiled at her. “Are you strong, my little goddess?”
She nodded. “Like Mommy.”
Julian’s smile widened. “Just like Mommy,” he told her. He pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “Let’s go to Mommy so she can bandage your knee.” He lifted her up onto his hip.
Axel sat on the ground beside a pouting Holden. He flashed me a smile over his shoulder to let me know he had Holden. I sighed and looked up at Julian. “It’s all your fault,” I grumbled.
Julian laughed as he carried Lana inside to the bathroom. I grabbed the first aid kit from under the sink. “How is it my fault?” he asked me.
“Holden got all of his traits from you,” I reminded him. Julian snickered. “Were you a bully, too?” I asked him.
Julian shrugged. “Axel kicked my ass a few times before I figured it out.” He lightly tickled Lana’s belly, and she giggled, the tears leaving her beautiful brown eyes. “Maybe you should kick Holden’s butt,” he teased her.
“No,” I scolded. “Fighting is bad,” I reminded her. She nodded in agreement with me.
“Yeah, Daddy; goddesses don’t fight,” she told him, sticking her tongue out at him.
Julian laughed. “Just like your damn mother.” He pressed a kiss to her forehead before he rubbed my growing belly. “I’m going out to help with Holden.”
He left the bathroom, and I began to clean up Lana’s knee. “Mommy, are they mad at Bubba?” she asked me, sounding worried for her brother. She really was so much like her father.
