Colt rumbled a warm chuckle and leaned in for a kiss. “Correct.”
Okay, I agreed.
Twelve
“Daddy, look at me now.” I reached the very corner of the backyard and took a couple big breaths.
Lucas glanced up from the book he was reading on the sunbed and cocked his head at me. “What are you doing in the bushes?”
“I’m gonna run,” I said frankly. And since my backyard wasn’t huge, I had to be almost in the hedge in order to gain proper speed for my cool jump into the pool. “Where’s Colt? He should see this too.”
There was no time for Lucas to respond. An upbeat rock-country song started pouring out from inside the house, and Colt stepped out shortly after.
“Daddy, you gotta see this,” I said.
He tightened the drawstrings of his boardshorts and eyed the short distance between me and the pool. “You gonna jump?”
“Yeah.”
He squinted out at the end of the backyard, then back to me. “You’re gonna trip on the deck. Better you take one of the corners out there.”
I glanced down at where the deck started. Maybe he was right. I’d done this a million times before, but before the deck was built. Okay, fine. So I jogged across the yard until I reached the end. The sun shone brightly, and the grass under my feet felt nice. There was no grass around the pool; Dad had had it removed to lay stone. But I liked this little patch in the back. Grass was summer beneath your feet.
“Be careful, sweetheart,” Lucas cautioned.
“Yeah, but look,” I responded and shifted my foot back. More deep breaths. I was going to impress! After crouching a bit, I sped forward and darted as fast as I could for the pool. Then I shouted, “Geronimo!” and jumped high, doing a wicked cool flip that made my stomach do a somersault before I landed in the water.
Woot! Fucking crushed it!
I resurfaced with a triumphant fist toward the sky and found a grinning Colt right on the edge of the pool. “That’s a solid eight, baby.”
Lucas looked he’d just survived a roller coaster ride. “Sweet Jesus, you almost gave me a heart attack.”
I snickered. An eight, though? I swam over to the edge and squinted up at Colt. “How do I nail a ten?”
“Oh God,” Lucas muttered. “So wide open.”
Colt laughed at him and turned to me. “You’d have to fuck me to do that.”
Wha…? Oh. A giggle burst through my lips, and I understood now why Lucas had said wide open.
Colt took a step off the edge, and I turned my head for the splash. When he broke through the surface, all tanned and wet and running a hand over his head, I could only agree with him being a ten. A smoking-hot Daddy ten.
“The use of Geronimo took two points,” he said. “Old Army war cries don’t belong in this family.”
Family. He said family. A warm, fluttering sensation made its way through my chest.
I bit my lip and failed to hide a smirk. “The Air Force was born from the Army, though.”
He narrowed his eyes and closed the distance between us. “We don’t talk about that, you little trivia barn.”
I laughed, and he gathered my legs around his hips. “What if I put it this way,” I proposed. “Out of the Army ashes rose a big, strong phoenix, and we named it the Air Force.”
He chuckled and planted a kiss on me. “Much better.”
I hummed and kissed him deeper, snaking the tip of my tongue around his.
He liked that.
“Do you bottom, by the way?” I asked curiously. I couldn’t take my hands off him. Running my fingers up and down his chest, feeling his chest hair, was becoming a favorite of mine.
“Reluctantly.” He nipped at my jaw. “Luke’s my one and only, but I kinda had to give him my ass on a platter every once in a while so his Top could come out and play too.”
“That’s very kind of you,” I chuckled.
“The shit we do for love, eh?” He looked over at Lucas, then back at me with a crooked grin. “Whenever he came home with a bottle of Jameson, I knew what he needed.”
That image was so funny to me, I couldn’t help but crack up.
Colt responded by dunking me under the water.
While I coughed and spluttered through the giggles, he hugged me closer and blew raspberries on my face.
I locked my arms around his neck and licked his cheek.
He grinned and shook his head.
“I’ve never topped,” I admitted.
That was a surprise to him. “Ever? I’ll be damned.”
I shrugged. “Can’t say I’m super curious about it.”
“Hmm. But a little?”
Well… There was no forgetting the time Colt told me Lucas would want me to take him sometimes… Since then, the fantasy had visited me quite a bit.
I was sure my blush gave me away.
