Her eyes are hooded and she wears the most serene expression. I can’t wait to have her beneath me, naked, and looking at me that way while I drive my dick into her sweet body.
It will happen.
Fuck, I’ll die if it doesn’t.
She starts to pull away, but I grasp onto her wrist, stopping her. Her head turns my way, a frown of confusion crossing over her features. “What?”
My smile falls. “Stay away from Spencer, Love. He’ll never treat you how you deserve.”
Her lips press together in a thin line and she nods. I want to believe she heard me and she’ll obey, but something tells me things are beyond complicated and it won’t be that simple.
He’s my son and lives across the hall from her.
She might try and stay away from him, but there’s no way in hell he’ll stay away from her.
Fuck.
Aubrey
Nothing is more awkward than a silent car ride with Karla, who hates me and loves Hugo, while wearing no panties. I’m probably being self-conscious, but I’m pretty sure I can smell pussy—my pussy—when trapped inside her car.
Hugo refused to let me Uber home after the drama from yesterday. But since Vance showed up for a meeting late in the day, Hugo kindly forced Karla to be my personal driver. She only thinks she hates me now. If she knew I was spreading my legs on the clock for our boss, she’d probably stab me in the eye with her keys.
My heart flutters at the memory from earlier. After he ate me out, I was boneless and flying high. None of Karla’s usual snippiness bothered me. I daydreamed about what more we could do when we were home and alone.
“We’re here,” Karla says, voice tight with irritation. “See you tomorrow.”
I jerk my head up and scan the yard, relieved when I realize it’s not littered with my own personal porn. Small victories. Aside from Ben texting me all day long with his usual crap, it’s been a great day.
“Thanks for the ride.”
She forces a smile my way. “Happy to help Hugo.”
I refrain from rolling my eyes. Sorry, lady, but he’s not into you. Grabbing my purse, I climb out of her SUV and quickly make it to the garage door. I’m not keen on seeing the word “slut” on the door again.
After mashing in the door code, I step inside and close it after me. I’m too spooked after yesterday to take any chances. My phone buzzes in my purse.
Spencer: I saw you walking across the yard, leech, like a little girl whose ass still hurts.
Though I’m happy the cameras seem to be working, I’m annoyed at his text.
Me: Don’t call me leech, asshole.
He sends me a bunch of emojis of a hand and a peach. It makes me smile even though I don’t want to. Damn him.
I make it inside the house and head for my room. It’s eerily quiet without Spencer here. At least he knows I’m home and checked in on me in his own obnoxious way. My phone buzzes again with an incoming text.
Unknown Number: I miss you so much, gorgeous. I’m leaving my wife. She’s nothing to me. Stop blocking me and tell me where I can come pick you up. Everything will be so much better when we’re back together.
I shudder at the thought of seeing Ben again. If I told Hugo about this, he’d change my number in a heartbeat to protect me. But it’s just another glaring fact that I’m the “slut” I’ve been proving myself to be.
Spencer: Aww, but you’re MY leech.
I reply back with eye roll emojis as I walk back into my room. Kicking off my shoes, I stop just inside the doorway, waiting for him to reply.
And then I hear it.
Rattling.
A mixture of dread and horror runs through my veins as I dart my head to the source of the sound. I’m frozen, unable to comprehend what I’m seeing.
My phone hits the floor as I let out a blood-curdling scream.
There’s a rattlesnake coiled in the center of my bed, staring straight at me.
Run!
I turn on my heel, racing barefoot down the hallway and out of the house. In my head, the snake is slithering after me, ready to take a venomous bite of my ankle. Blinded by tears, I run as fast as my legs will carry me until I’m next door. I beat on the door, screaming for help. Seconds later, Callum yanks open the door, intense eyes assessing me.
“Are you hurt?” he demands.
Willa rushes up behind him, concern in her big eyes.
“Th-there’s a s-snake in my b-bed,” I stammer out, choking on a terrified sob.
“A snake?” Callum and Willa both blurt out at once.
“Please get it out of there,” I beg. “I don’t know if there are more. Please help me.”
“Come inside,” Callum orders. “I’ll take care of it.”
