No, it couldn't be that.
Making coffee for clients might be part of her job description, but the other women at the office always volunteered to do this whenever Garion Ross came to visit.
Maybe...he needed a temporary housekeeper, and Mr. Calder had recommended her?
Think, Daisy Rae!
She fidgeted in her feet as she tried to recall what else she knew of him.
Um...
The man owned a billion-dollar ranch in a small town outside San Antonio, and-—
OH!
He was supposed to have a wife who died years ago—-
MY!
—-as well as a son.
GOODNESS!
Daisy Rae let out a strangled gasp. "It's you?"
Beautiful oh-so-kissable lips curved into a smile that was as sardonic as it was sexy. "It's me."
She stared up at the billionaire in shock. How on earth was this even possible?
Chapter Three
Garion's expression turned bland upon hearing another woman call out his future wife's name.
"Daisy Rae? Is that my Uber Eats?"
Uncle Olsen was right, Garion thought idly. The older man had warned him about Daisy Rae's relations. Her uncle was a greedy conscienceless bastard, and her cousin a bitch. While he was fair enough to reserve his judgment on the former, the sound of the latter's voice certainly made her seem like one, and his impression on Daisy Rae's cousin only worsened when the other woman shoved Daisy Rae out of the way.
Daisy Rae stumbled forward, but Garion was there to catch her with ease.
"Are you deaf?" Hilda demanded as she walked past her cousin. "Why wouldn't you—-oh." Hilda couldn't believe her eyes when she saw who was standing on her doorstep. Garion Ross? It was him, wasn't it? What was San Antonio's most eligible bachelor outside her house?
Daisy Rae's face was on fire as the billionaire caught her in his arms, and her breasts ended up smashed against the hard wall of his chest.
His hands gently clasped her waist as he carefully set her back. "Are you alright?"
"Yes, I'm fine, sorry." Daisy Rae spoke in a rush while quickly breaking away from the billionaire. Brief as it was, his touch on her skin was like fire, and it had her heart racing like it never did before.
Hilda fumed at the way the other woman was acting.
Oh, she knew it!
Everyone was always talking about how nice and sweet her pudgy little cousin was, but Hilda had always believed that Daisy Rae's goody-two-shoes was an act, and this was proof of it. She had just given the door a little yank, for fuck's sake, but Daisy Rae had immediately turned it into an excuse to throw herself at the billionaire.
Poor Garion Ross, to be targeted by a shameless pathetic little hussy like her cousin.
Hilda considered catching the billionaire's eye to let him know he had her total sympathy. While she had never met him in person, it was very clear to Hilda that she could be the only reason he was here, and she was even more convinced of this when she heard the billionaire ask—-
"I hope I didn't come at a bad time?"
Hilda fluffed her hair. Knew it. That question couldn't be for Daisy Rae, obviously. One only had to look at the other woman to know her chances of capturing Garion Ross' interest, and that was a big, fat zero.
But Hilda?
She had men vying for her attention all the time, and the billionaire clearly knew he couldn't just assume Hilda had an evening to spare. Fortunately for him, she did happen to be free tonight, and just as Hilda stepped forward to officially introduce herself as the woman of his dreams—-
"Uncle Olsen told me I should time my visit after dinner, once you're done cooking for your family."
Hilda froze, and whatever words of seduction she had planned to say died in her throat. Did the billionaire just say Uncle Olsen?
The old fuck that Daisy Rae was working for was Garion Ross' uncle?
"Hilda Stoltz, isn't it?" Garion Ross finally turned to look at her, and while the billionaire's tone was pleasant, the glint in his hazel eyes was coolly assessing. "I've heard a lot about you from Uncle Olsen."
Hilda could only manage an incoherent sound. No wonder the billionaire seemed to despise her on sight! That stupid, meddling old fuck had uttered the usual lies about her and her father, and her outrage grew when she saw the billionaire smile down at Daisy Rae.
Hilda cleared her throat loudly, but Garion didn't even glance her way.
"You are free to join me now, aren't you?"
Daisy Rae couldn't answer right away, with how Hilda was trying to catch her attention from behind the billionaire's back. Take me, too, her cousin mouthed while pointing to herself.
Garion cupped her elbow, and Daisy Rae forgot all about Hilda. She was usually so much more sensible than this, but his fingers were on her skin again, ergo, her brain was toast.
"You probably haven't figured this out yet..."
