Alec’s brain came back online in fractured pieces. First he noticed the scent of Ed’s skin. Next he registered the soft stroke of Ed’s fingers on the back of his neck.

“Jesus,” Alec murmured, his body limp and useless. “Sorry, am I squashing you?”

“A bit.” Ed’s voice was warm and husky next to his ear. “But only in a good way.”

Alec chuckled. He managed to lift his head and press a kiss to Ed’s lips. “I’ll move in a minute.”

Ed slid his arms around Alec’s body and held him close. “No rush.”

Alec finally roused himself when his cock started to soften. In danger of losing the condom, he pulled out carefully, knotted it, and tossed it onto the floor. “I’ll get it later,” he said as he flopped onto his back beside Ed.

Ed snuggled closer and threw an arm over Alec’s chest. Alec’s heart squeezed, and a rush of emotion took his breath away.

“Will you stay?” Ed asked. “I’m not ready for tonight to be over.”

“I could probably go for round two a little later,” Alec said lightly. It was easier to keep this about the sex. He wasn’t ready to find words for the feelings that tightened his chest and made his heart beat faster.

“Sounds good.”

They lay quietly for a while.

Ed stroked his hand over Alec’s chest, tracing the shape of his muscles and ribs under the soft dark hair. “You’re so gorgeous,” he murmured. “It’s been killing me, being around you in the office, knowing what you look like naked under those sharp suits of yours.”

Alec smiled. “Same. I have to force myself not to keep staring at your arse.”

Deep down, Alec knew this wasn’t just about sex anymore, not for him, anyway. He thought about how exponentially more difficult it was going to be keeping his feelings for Ed under wraps now he’d had this—this intimacy, the sweetness of this evening. He kissed the top of Ed’s head, breathing in his warm, comforting scent, and he wished with all his heart that things were different.

CHAPTER EIGHT

Ed listened to the thump of Alec’s heart. He had come drying on his belly, but he didn’t want to move. He was afraid that if he left the bed to clean up, the mood would be broken. After five weeks of unbearable sexual tension, antagonism, and then finally a slow drift into something easier between them, he still couldn’t believe they’d found their way here.

Even in Ed’s wildest fantasies, he hadn’t dared to dream of this. Alec’s arms around him, Alec kissing his hair, the way Alec had looked at him while he’d thrust into him, like Ed was the centre of his universe. His feelings for Alec were careering out of control, way past the physical, and he didn’t think he was alone on that ride. But Alec had made it very clear they only had tonight.

Just one more night.

Ed wasn’t sure his heart could stand it. But it was too late now. If they only had tonight, he was damn well going to make the most of it.

The second time they fucked, Ed took charge. Alec had dozed off, and Ed woke him with his mouth on his cock. He sucked him into hardness, tasting musk and salt as Alec swelled against his tongue. Alec brought his hands down to smooth Ed’s hair away from his face, and Ed looked up to see his smile.

Ed pulled off so he could grin back. “Round two?”

“I think it could be arranged. What did you have in mind?”

“You can just lie there and look sexy. I’m doing all the work this time.”

Alec chuckled. “I can do that.”

He put one hand behind his head so he could see better, and Ed admired the dark hair in his armpit and the curve of his bicep. “Yeah. You’re excellent at that,” he agreed.

Ed rolled the condom onto Alec, lubed him up, and lowered himself onto Alec’s cock, inch by decadent inch. He held Alec’s gaze as he did it, and there was that expression again. For a poker-faced lawyer, Alec sucked at hiding his feelings in the bedroom. Ed wasn’t complaining. He didn’t think he’d ever get tired of seeing Alec look at him like that. He pushed away the thought that this was probably the last time it would ever happen. Now wasn’t the time to be worrying about the future. The present was too good to ruin.

When he’d taken Alec all the way inside, Ed leaned back a little and stroked his own cock until he was fully hard. Alec watched him, his eyes dark and hungry now. He brought his hands to Ed’s thighs and stroked, rubbing the sensitive hairs the wrong way as he slid his hands higher so that his thumbs skimmed Ed’s balls. “Are you planning on moving? Or are you just going to sit there and jerk off on me? Because while the view is very pleasant, I wouldn’t say no to a little action.”
