He came down a moment later and washed his face in the water basin. He brought out his razor too, shaving without cutting himself during the unexpected bumps of the ocean. Then he got into bed buck naked—as if he expected to get some.

Not gonna happen.

He’d lit one of the lanterns below deck, casting just enough light so we weren’t submerged into total darkness once the sun went down. He lay in bed against the opposite wall, the hatch closed to conserve heat.

It was so cold, especially on the open ocean. I tried not to shiver, but it was impossible, not with the bumps all over my skin, the tightness in all my muscles. When I glanced across the floor, I saw him lying there with a huge smirk on his face.

“Hop in.” He pulled back the covers, revealing his hard-as-rock chest, his tight abs, and his tree trunk of a dick.

I didn’t let my gaze linger. “I’m good.”

“You’re freezing.”

“The blankets are thin.”

“I’m just fine.” He kept the blanket off, his hard dick against his stomach. “Get your ass over here.”

I wasn’t going to get any sleep like this, not when I was too cold to relax. “I’m not fucking you.”

He dropped the blanket back down. “Then forget it.”

“Fucking asshole…”

He propped himself up on one arm and looked at me, his chest bare. “You need to get over it. You’re acting like I’m the villain here, when I’m just a realist. Maybe living in a castle taught you to believe in Prince Charming and fairy tales, but that’s all a bunch of bullshit. Life is about survival. Nothing else.”

“Life has to be about more. Otherwise, what’s the point?”

He didn’t have anything to say to that.

“There has to be more. There has to be some good in this world. If not…what are we fighting for?”

He gave a slight shake of his head. “To live. That’s all.”

“The cycle needs to be broken. The less fortunate shouldn’t be damned down here.”

“That’s how the world is. You’re either on top, or you’re on the bottom—no pun intended.”

It was discouraging, to think of the blessed at the top of the cliffs, while the less fortunate survived just to…survive.

“I’m not saying anything to you that someone else wouldn’t say. So don’t condemn me for being just like everyone else. Don’t condemn me for my hatred. Don’t condemn me for my need to survive.”

I looked away, my stomach heavy and empty at the same time.

“Now get your ass over here so I can make it warm.” He threw off the sheets again, his dick still hard as stone.

I wanted to stay put out of defiance, but my need for warmth and comfort was far greater than my need to be stubborn. With a dose of self-hatred, I left my bed and slid into his, ignoring that look of victory in his eyes.

My body had barely hit the mattress before I was rolled onto my back, his fingers pulling my panties off my waist and down my legs. They got stuck on one of my ankles, but he left them there as he got on top of me, his thighs opening mine and his dick pressing against my glistening sex. It was hot, like a piece of firewood pulled out of the warm hearth.

He tilted his hips and slid inside me, giving a loud groan as he sank deeper. “Fuck, baby, I missed this pussy.” With one hand fisted in my hair and his face above mine, he pumped into me hard, grunting and moaning as he pounded into me like a whore. He came seconds later, his length entirely sheathed inside me.

I took his load, my body on fire because he’d finished when I’d just begun. “Asshole…”

His dick didn’t soften like it usually did. It stayed hard as steel, still stretching me and making me wince. “Just a warm-up.” He started to thrust into me again, this time slow and steady, rocking my hips as he rolled his, our bodies moving in unison. His face lowered to mine, and he kissed me, his strong mouth taking the lead, giving me his tongue and accepting mine in return.

My arms hooked around his shoulders, and I kissed him as I felt my body rock back and forth, felt his dick push me into the mattress over and over, lighting my body on fire and making it permanently hum.

It was so fucking good.

He must have felt exactly what I felt, felt how much I enjoyed it, because he said, “I’ll always be here for you, baby.” He tilted his hips more, rubbing his body right against my clit, making me go hot and numb everywhere.

I held on to him tighter because I could feel it coming, feel the aftershocks before the earthquake. My nails started to dig deep, my thighs squeezed his hips, my sex squeezed his. My sighs and moans grew louder, filling the small cabin, echoing back at me. The window beside us began to fog because now it felt like an inferno below deck.
