Showing me just how much he’s into me before he helps me get dressed.

CHAPTER TWELVE

Michael

“Let’s just say I have a feeling Jase is right where he’s meant to be, and you and I are right where we’re meant to be,” I tell her, knowing he’s still in her thoughts.

Like a best friend, she says everything will be alright.

She smiles, and I lean down to peck her lips before making sure she’s decent again. Decent for the outside world, I mean. There’s no way in hell any living soul is gonna see my girl the way I see her and enjoy her.

Ever.

This is sacred to me now – Vanessa’s everything. My everything and nobody else is gonna see, touch or even think about her the way I do.

“Hungry?” I ask her before I pull my office door open, motioning for her to go out first.

“Starving,” she murmurs. “I was so caught up in today I skipped breakfast.”

I hear my tongue click, the taste of her essence still there, which makes me swell with more than just satisfaction as I cover myself with my jacket for the second time in as many days.

“I know the perfect place,” I say, guiding her by the small of her back through to the elevator that I use to go straight to the parking garage under the building.

Nobody really looks up from their work as we pass, and there are only a few short and professional ‘Morning Mr. Hart’ greetings as we leave.

Nobody needs to ask what I’ve been doing or where I’m going. Everybody knows what they’re here for, and none of it includes me having to explain or justify anything.

But I can’t help feeling a new kind of thrill.

I'm satisfied, and yeah, I’ll say it. A smug feeling to match the look on my face. Because Vanessa’s mine and nobody else’s. I really can have my cake and eat it too, literally.

Michael Hart. A self-made man who’s finally found his mate.

Finally found the one.

And maybe Vanessa’s right. Before I go shouting that from the rooftops, I think we’re gonna have way more fun just getting to know each other a lot better.

And on something softer than my desk for her first time.

Approaching my truck, I slip my hand into hers and feel her squeeze it back before she stiffens a little. Slowing her steps, I’m already trying to match by walking like I’m on a thin plank.

“What is it?” I ask her, following her eyes to my truck.

Registering that she’s seen it before, parked down from her house, maybe?

“You really did follow me,” she smiles to herself.

“I told you so,” I respond, letting her know it’s not because I didn’t trust her with Jase or anything like that. “I just can’t take my eyes off you, is all,” I confess again.

Watching her curves move as I help her into the passenger side hypnotizes me as I close the door gently behind her.

Saving my hands for when I get inside, sliding the seatbelt across her. Taking my time to make sure she’s buckled in just right.

“I knew you were watching over me. I could feel it,” she murmurs, and I keep my face close to hers.

“I always will, Vanessa. I’ll always be right here, every step of the way,” I tell her. Kissing her again until my own whale song stomach groan makes us both chuckle.

“I’m not the only one who skipped breakfast, huh?” she asks with a little sass in her tone.

Another thing I find I like about Vanessa a lot. She’s not afraid to speak her mind, even if she does stir the pot once in a while. And she can laugh at herself too. Something I’m gonna have to try more often with her help.

I did eat breakfast, but I tell her I’m already hungry for another helping of my new favorite dish.

Her sweet little love nest in my mouth.

Noticing her breath shiver at the same thought, I’m quick to add that I see more in her than just sex.

That I’m more than just insanely attracted to her physically.

“I want all of you, Vanessa,” I explain before I start my truck. Leaning over toward her I take her face in one of my hands.

She looks down, and I lift her chin.

“All of you,” I tell her again. “And you have all of me, always,” I add, kissing her again, and we both make little sounds as if it’s our first kiss all over again.

Every time I touch her, kiss her, or even simply look at her, it feels like the thrill of the first time, only better.

Better now, she knows how I feel about her. And better still, when she yields to the same touch. The same kiss.

“I think I could handle that,” she exhales, and putting her hand in mine, she asks just one thing of me.
