* * *

She took her hand away and replaced it with her lips, pressing them gently into his. She moved away and looked him in the eye. “You understand?”

* * *

His eyes were wide with wonder. “Why do you trust me so much? I do not deserve it.”

* * *

She laughed. “Yes, and that’s why. Because you’re honest with me.”

* * *

He stared, shaking his head wonderingly. “You are too wise for one so young.”

* * *

“I am not wise.” She smiled. “I simply have not adopted the simpering pretension you are used to from your fellow gentry.”

* * *

He smiled. “As I said…wise.”

* * *

Her eyes dropped to his lips and his eyes dropped to hers. Their gazes flicked upwards and held. There was a feeling of suspension as if the very air had bated its breath in anticipation of what would happen next. Arthur moved his head closer and Janice responded in kind. His eyes were eloquent, asking permission. She closed the distance between them, pressing her lips to his. With a groan, he grabbed her arms, pulling her into him, his tongue ghosting along her bottom lip, seeking entry.

* * *

She gave it to him, and gladly, let him plunder her mouth as he pleased, the sounds he was making causing her nipples to peak as they rubbed against the rough cotton of his shirt, her own muslin made insubstantial by wetness.

* * *

She flung her shawl off her shoulders and wrapped her arms around his neck, throwing herself recklessly into the kiss. It was better than she remembered, his mouth hard and hungry against hers, his strong hands tight around her waist, holding her close as if he thought she would blow away if he did not.

* * *

He began to ease her backward, onto the cushioned settee as she continued to kiss him desperately. His hands were scrabbling against her bodice, pulling at the laces as her torso bounced with each tug. She was suddenly assailed by an uncontrollable urge to laugh and giggled against his lips.

* * *

He pulled back, smiling at her. “What is it?” he asked, still unlacing her bodice.

* * *

She shook her head. “Nothing. I’m just happy.”

* * *

Her bodice came apart in his hands and he pulled it off her, exposing her chemise. His hands curved around her breasts and he made a hurt sound, a vein throbbing at his temple, his face flushed.

* * *

He said her name, low and soft and she shivered in reaction.

* * *

“Do you…?”

* * *

She didn’t know what he was asking for but her answer was yes. She pulled him down to her, opening her mouth, to better devour his. She was quickly finding that kissing was one of her favorite activities. Kissing Arthur was one of the most blissful things she’d ever experienced. Everything disappeared and all that was left was herself and him, in a bubble of delight.

* * *

Her head sinking into the softness of the divan made her realize that she was lying down as Arthur kissed his way down her neck, licked along her collarbone, and down further…

* * *

She froze, holding her breath, her eyes wide open as he licked the curve of her breast. He froze as well, lifting his head to look into her eyes. “Shall I stop?” he rasped.

* * *

She hesitated, knowing she should say yes, but her body was on fire, and she wanted to feel his touch. She wanted to know what would quench the grasping, hungry feeling that wrought her belly full of butterflies and made her want to squirm with yearning and discomfort.

* * *

“N-no,” she whispered shakily.

* * *

Slowly, he lowered his head, and pressed a kiss to her cleavage. He flicked out his tongue, tracing circles in her flesh as he loosened her bodice further, and pulled down her chemisette.

* * *

Slowly, he pulled off her bodice, loosened her skirts, and pulled them off. His eyes trailed over her body, visible beneath the thin cotton of her chemisette. They darkened with desire as his breathing quickened and he panted. “Janice,” he whispered her name reverently before sinking down and covering her with his body. She squirmed beneath him as they kissed, wanting to feel every inch of him.

* * *

His hand rested on her thigh, inching up her chemisette as he rained kisses upon her. She grasped his arms, holding on for dear life, wanting to help but not knowing how. He bent his leg, pushing it between hers, widening her stance.

* * *

She moaned, arching up as he pressed down upon her, his hardness poking against her thigh. He reached between them, pulling his ties loose and dropping his breeches, his breath hot on her flesh as he pressed his head into her neck, breathing uncontrollably.
