“Well, we’ve got a team meeting tomorrow night at Dominic Locke’s house at seven. I’ll text you the address.”
He nodded. “I’ll be there.”
I was about to walk away when he opened his mouth to say something else.
“Hey, Beau.”
“Yeah?”
“I know I’m coming into a tough situation. Meaning tough for the guys who were here that day and lost teammates. Not tough for me. I don’t want to step on any toes, and I’d appreciate it if you could watch my back and let me know if I make any missteps.”
“Absolutely. I appreciate you saying that.”
He smiled, his jaw set and his gaze determined. “I chose to come here because I want to be part of your comeback. Let’s make this the season we show everyone what this team is made of.”
