I always try and take something with me from anything I write. I try to learn something, if I can. Or, at the very least, let the work I’m involved with clean the scales from my eyes.
With these books, and this one in particular, what I’ve been reminded of is this: We do not have to be subject to our past. Nor should we allow ourselves to be preoccupied with our futures. Because, as Christine says, the past “is no more real than a dream I had once upon a time. And what might be in the future is just imagination. It’s play pretend. The only thing real is now.” We get to start every day fresh and new. If we want. Because time doesn’t stop and the spinning planet upon which we sit will continue to spin.
The sun will come up and it will go down.
And even when that stops in a few million years or so, it won’t really be the end of anything. It’ll just mean that the energy that was here has transformed itself into something new and will continue its circular journey back into itself.
