“Baby.”

“Hmm?”

I got under the covers and pressed my body to her back. My hand moved down her stomach to the area between her legs, and I rubbed the little nub that I could taste on my tongue without even kissing her. She gave a slight moan and rocked her hips just a little bit, but she didn’t turn over. “I’m so tired…”

My head dipped to her shoulder, and I pressed a few kisses to her soft skin. My lips made their way up, moving to her neck and her jawline. My fingers continued to rub her in a circular way, slowly increasing the pressure and pace. “You think I give a damn, baby?” My arm slid under her neck, and I cradled her head toward me, my lips catching hers. The landing was soft, the combination of our lips like a flame from a candle. Slow and purposeful, our mouths moved together, and within seconds, her hips were thrusting to meet my fingers and her hand was in my hair.

My dick was between her ass cheeks and against her lower back, drooling at the tip out of eagerness. It’d been five days since we’d left Delacroix, and fucking against the cavern wall wasn’t the same as against a soft mattress with clean sheets.

I rolled her onto her back and moved between her open thighs. Without our lips breaking apart, I sank inside her, and when I was balls deep, I let out a drawn-out sigh of pleasure. My eyes opened and I looked into hers, seeing the same fire in her eyes that burned in mine.

I felt it, that weight in my chest, that connection between our souls that was both painful and exhilarating. It hurt, but it hurt in the most addictive way. Sex had always felt good, but it had never felt like this. I’d been with a lot of women in my lifetime, but the pleasure had never moved beyond the physical. With Ivory, I could feel it everywhere, in my blood, in my heart, in my soul.

She tugged on my ass and panted against my mouth. “Huntley…”

I could feel every inch of her, feel her in such intimate detail that I could anticipate every change before it came. So many nights spent this way had taught me everything about her body. What she liked. What she really liked. What made her say my name. What made her toes curl. Right now, I could feel her ironclad grasp on my length, and I knew she was just inches from the edge. “Come on, baby.”

Her nails scratched my back.

“I want to give it to you.” My thrusts remained steady. I couldn’t go any faster, not without releasing my load too soon. I always let her go first, always let my wife writhe in pleasure before I followed.

She gave a moan as her nails started to cut me deep. “Yes…” Her eyes turned glossy with unspent tears. “Huntley…”

I was lost at the sound of my name. My thrusts quickened as I exploded, grunting like an animal, releasing all the tension I’d carried on our long trek here. Balls deep, I gave it to her, filled my wife for the hundredth time.

Her face moved into my neck as she finished. She grasped on to me hard, moaning and dissolving her tears into my skin.

We both breathed as we came down from the high, our bodies loosening around each other. I gripped her by the back of the head and pulled her back to the pillow. “Don’t you ever tell me you’re too tired again.”

A tear escaped and rolled down her cheek.

“Say yes.”

Her answer was immediate. “Yes.”

I pulled out and rolled over, lying on my back with the sheets at my waist.

She was on me right away, curling up into my body, holding on to me like I was her favorite pillow. It was the same position we took every night, whether it was in a bedroll under the stars or in the comfort of my cabin. When she was gone, I forgot how to sleep, how to get comfortable. And now it felt like she’d never left.

IVORY

First thing in the morning, we had breakfast then departed the outpost.

It was strange to be there again, especially when my last memories of this place were when Huntley and I were enemies. Never in a million years did I imagine we would be married shortly after we left. And I never imagined how complete our nuptials would make me feel.

Ian met us by the gate, the reins of the horse in his hand. “You have supplies for three days. Ride hard—because a storm is coming.”

“Why does it seem like there’s always a storm coming?” I blurted.

Ian shifted his eyes to me. “Because there always is.”

Huntley took the reins. “Anything you need me to bring to HeartHolme?”
