He made his way back to the car. There were several missed calls from Dante, but he needed to call Giordano.

They had gone to the fair, the movies, out to dinner, so many dates in the past three weeks. The thought of seeing him again filled her with excitement.
Ruin came to pick her up from work. Of course, this meant she became a hot topic for her coworkers, but it wasn’t long before people moved on when they realized she wasn’t going to give away any juicy details. There was nothing to give away. She randomly met the guy and since then, they’d been getting close.
He was always the perfect gentleman as well. He’d not tried anything else with her. always walked her to her door, a single kiss to the lips, sometimes a peck on the nose, and then he’d leave her alone. At first she loved this. He had shown that he was more than happy to give her some distance, but now she missed his kisses. She wanted them. Which was why she stood beside him as they walked down the street, after going to see a rather racy movie, and they’d enjoyed some ice cream afterward. How did she prolong this?
“Did you have a good day at work?” she asked.
“It was … productive.”
“Ah.” She didn’t have a clue what he actually did, but everything he told her had her figuring he traveled a lot. A salesman perhaps, of everything.
“What about you?” he asked.
“Er, yeah, work was the same for me. Lots of numbers to enter into a database. Nothing new. Kind of boring. A couple of the women asked about you again. Wondered if you had a friend.” This was her trying to get to know this amazing stranger.
Ruin stopped, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her in close. “And what did you say?”
“I told them I had no idea. You don’t talk about friends.”
She felt her cheeks heat as she thought about the double meaning that could have. They didn’t talk. So what else did they do? Sex. Lots of it. That’s what some of the women had said in the beginning. He must be dynamite in the sack.
“Yeah, that sounded bad.”
He chuckled. “No, it sounded like you and me are busy talking about a lot more than my friends.” He kissed her head. “I don’t have any friends.”
She tilted her head to the side. “How is that possible?”
He leaned down and pressed his lips against her ear. “How is it possible for you to be a virgin at twenty-nine?”
She rolled her eyes. “Easy.”
“Nah, I’d say you’re anything but easy.”
This did make her laugh.
Staring into his dark eyes, she felt that answering thrill rush through her body. Ruin made her heart race. He made her want to be so many things. She craved him. Placing her hands on his chest, she tilted her head back and looked at him. His rock-hard body was pressed against hers and she nibbled her lip.
“Callie, I’m trying to be a good man right now.”
Did she want him to be a good man?
“What if I don’t want you to be a good man?” she asked.
Ruin stilled. He stared.
She looked into his dark eyes, not wanting to break that connection.
“Callie?”
“Ruin,” she said. “I was thinking you might want to come back to my place.”
Was that so daring? Anything could happen. He didn’t answer but took her hand as they made their way back to her apartment. She felt a sense of excitement overcome her as he sped up, rushing them toward her apartment building.
They arrived at her building and it had taken her a short time to get used to not typing in her code, but it had finally worked. Ruin waited as they got to her door and she slid the key into the lock, or at least tried to do so. He took the keys from her and unlocked the door. Stepping through, he closed the door, and she heard him bolt each lock he’d installed.
She watched him. There was a single lamp lit. Ruin turned toward her. He was in her apartment once again.
“Callie, I will not do anything you don’t want.”
She stepped toward him. “I want to. I know it’s only been a short time, but I … I want you to kiss me.”
“I’ll kiss you.”
“No, not just kiss. I want to have sex with you.” She was ready.
Three weeks of him behaving like a gentleman was enough to drive her crazy. She was ready. More than ready. Life was so short. Her mother had told her that. When she finally found someone she wanted to be with, she had to stop holding herself back and just live. She wanted to live more than anything.
Ruin closed the distance between them.
“You’re going to drive me crazy, aren’t you?” he said. He pressed his lips against her temple and she released a moan, not wanting him to stop.
