“So what now?” Valenti asked, reaching up to caress O’Brian’s face, cupping his lover’s cheek in his hand. The long gold lashes fluttered down briefly, and O’Brian turned his head to leave a soft kiss on Valenti’s palm.
“I was thinkin’ maybe a quick shower and a nap,” he answered, suppressing a yawn with obvious difficulty. “You wore me out with your tight little ass.” He grinned, a lopsided slice of a smile that melted Valenti’s heart all over again.
“Hey, dummy, that’s not what I meant.” Valenti grinned back at him affectionately.
“Yeah, I know,” O’Brian said. “You wanna talk about everything and spell it all out. But I’m tellin’ you, Nicky, there’s no need. We belong together; we always have. And now we belong to each other in every sense of the word. Us against them, partner, just like always.”
“Okay.” Valenti yawned, feeling tired himself and willing to accept his partner’s view of their new relationship. “If you say so.” He snuggled closer to O’Brian, loving that he had the freedom to do so. He still felt somewhat sticky, but he thought he could live with it. Right now he just wanted that nap.
“Well, I do,” O’Brian mumbled, throwing an arm over Valenti’s shoulders. “So be good and go to sleep now, Nicky.” Apparently he was willing to forgo the shower as well, at least for now.
“Love you.” It was a whisper, almost a sigh, and Valenti wasn’t really sure which one of them had said it. Does it really matter? He thought not. Pulling Sean O’Brian a final fraction of an inch closer and breathing in the warm scent of his partner’s skin, he drifted off into oblivion, the dark head and the light resting on one pillow.
