But a good cry would be a release, too. How long had it been since she’d been able to cry? Every day was about survival, about making it to the next. Somewhere along the way she’d lost the ability to sit down and wring all of the negative emotions out of her.

Probably because the negative emotions—fear and shame and anxiety—were the only ones she’d felt in forever.

“Take it, Nic. Have all you want,” Grim offered.

And she was off the leash. She pumped against Josh’s hand, rubbing with abandon. The orgasm was almost immediate. The wild sensation ran through her like a flash fire, burning away all the bad crap that had been in her brain and leaving only pleasure, only the feeling of warmth and satisfaction. She cried out, riding the wave for everything it was worth.

All the while, Josh held her. His strong arms kept her close, and he kissed her neck as he worked to give her everything she needed.

She finally went still, slumping back in his arms, her body pulsing with afterglow.

And all the man had done was put his hand down her panties.

“That was perfect,” Grim said from the front seat.

They weren’t moving any more, and Nicole vaguely realized they’d made it to her craptastic motel. Why had she decided to take them here? At the time it seemed better, safer, but now she was pretty sure she would have gone wherever they wanted her to go.

It would be okay. It wasn’t like they were pampered rich boys. They wouldn’t judge.

And the ride had been perfect.

Grim shut off the engine and opened the back door, reaching in for her.

He picked her up like she weighed nothing, and she realized she was ready for even more perfection.

Chapter Four

Grim had been pretty sure he’d ruined the whole night bringing up spanking way too soon, but as he looked at Nicole laid out in his best friend’s arms, he realized Josh had absolutely saved it for them.

“Thanks,” he said as he peeled Nicole off Josh’s lap and hoisted her against his chest. “You okay or do you need to clean up?”

The way she’d sounded, she’d probably wriggled and thrashed, and he could imagine what that had done to Josh’s cock. He knew simply listening to her had him standing at attention.

“I barely managed to keep myself in check,” Josh admitted, climbing out of the cab. “Let’s get her inside. Don’t forget to lock it up. You know where we are.”

“We could go to your place.” Nicole wrapped an arm around his neck. “I feel better about it now. I was trying to be careful, but I don’t have to be tonight, do I?”

His heart twisted in his chest. She was so vulnerable, and he wanted to be the one who made sure no one took advantage of that. “You don’t, baby, but I think we’re bedding down here for the night. It’s another twenty minutes back to the ranch, and I will die if I don’t get my hands on you soon.”

“It would be faster if you didn’t drive like my grandma,” Josh groused. “Come to think of it, Granny drives way faster.”

“Grandma Diane doesn’t have my deep sense of responsibility to keep everyone alive,” he shot back. He was careful for a reason. He’d been given so much by Josh and his family he would never risk any of them. And he wouldn’t risk Nicole, either.

He was already in deep with this woman, hence the uncool almost-lecture on spanking. He could practically hear Josh telling him to chill the fuck out and take things slow on the “we want to tie you up and do nasty things to you” front.

Thankfully, she didn’t look worried now. She had a dreamy smile on her lips, and her eyes were soft.

“Where’s your key, darlin’?” He wanted her out of this parking lot as soon as possible. It looked like someone was checking in next door. He got a vague glance at a blonde before she rolled her suitcase inside. She seemed oddly normal for a motel guest. More suburban mom than the usual criminal element.

“In my purse, the front pocket,” she murmured as though she couldn’t care less if they looked through it.

Maybe she wasn’t in the kind of trouble he was worried about. It didn’t matter because he and Josh would handle it no matter what.

“Got it.” Josh had her purse in hand, closing the truck up and moving to her room. “You would think we were back in the stone ages. Who still has actual keys?”

No key cards for the Willow Fork Sleep Easy Motel. He was sure the owner would laugh if anyone asked if they could check in on their phone. He wasn’t sure Jerry Nevins had joined the cell phone revolution. As far as he could tell the man still used a rotary phone on a landline.
