Luna wet her lips, reaching behind her to unclasp her bra.
Everything in me went tight as I watched her free herself of the restraint, her nipples peaked from the chill in the room. She gathered her clothes and put them on a little chair in the corner, then climbed on the nearest bed.
“Are you going to get a massage fully clothed?” she asked as she situated herself under the sheet on the massage table.
“No,” I said, clearing my throat. “Can you blame me for being a little distracted?”
She bit that bottom lip again, something sad flashing across her eyes. “You don’t have to say things like that,” she said.
I hurried out of my clothes, leaving my boxer briefs on like she had her panties, and climbed under the sheet on the bed next to hers. “What do you mean?”
“I know you’re just being nice,” she said, nothing but pure doubt in her voice. “And it’s super sweet of you, but like I said the other night…I know I’m not the typical model body type. I love food and I’m soft in all the places you’re hard. It’s fine.”
I furrowed my brow, anger forcing my hands into fists. “That fucking asshole,” I grumbled out loud. “Luna, you have no idea how damn gorgeous you are.”
She visibly swallowed. “Brad—”
“No,” I cut her off. “This is one instance where you don’t get to argue with me. You know me. I would never lie to you. I’m not saying any of this to be sweet to you or because I’m your best friend. I’m saying it because I fucking mean it.”
She turned her head so she could lock eyes with me, scanning my face like she was indeed searching for the lie, for the evidence that I was sugarcoating things to keep her happy.
That fucking guy did a number on her and I wanted to kick his teeth in for it.
“If that’s true then why haven’t you tried—”
A knock on the door cut over her words.
“Just a minute,” I calmly called.
“Haven’t tried what?” I asked, my heart thudding in my chest.
“Nothing,” she said. “It doesn’t matter.”
“It does matter,” I countered. “Tell me.”
She wet her lips, hesitation shaping her features. “Why haven’t you tried to…you know…” She struggled with her words, a flush raking over her skin.
I cocked an eyebrow at her, barely able to contain my smirk. “Tried to make you come again?”
She clenched her eyes shut. “Forget I said anything.”
I chuckled, pure joy spearing through my veins. She wanted me to try? Fuck, all she had to do was say so. “Luna,” I said. “Luna, look at me.”
She pried open her eyes, looking at me with equal parts curiosity and mortification.
“You’ve practically hugged the edge of the bed these past two nights, putting as much distance between us as possible,” I said. “I kind of took that as a cue to not cross that line again, but if that’s what you want, all you have to do is ask.”
“Really?” she asked. “I thought you didn’t want to because you didn’t act like it.”
“I’m taking my cues from you, babe. I’ll never push you into something you don’t want.”
A battle raged in her eyes, causing the cutest little crinkle in her nose.
“Do you want me to try?” I finally asked when she hadn’t said anything. I swallowed hard, adrenaline coursing through my veins as I waited for her response.
“Yes,” she said, then turned away from me, putting her face in the opening at the head of the massage table. “We’re ready!” she called.
She wanted me to try.
She wanted me to court her, seduce her. And yeah, it was probably because we’d already fallen so deep into this game we were playing where she was my supposed fiancé, but I’d take what I could get.
The two massage therapists came inside, one going to either of our tables and giving us calm instructions before they started to work on us. It was hard as fuck to not look over at Luna every time a little sigh came from her lips as the therapist worked her tense muscles.
After.
There would be time after.
Because game or no, she’d given me the green light, and now she had no clue what she was in for.
“That was legit the best thing ever,” Luna said as I held the door open for her to our room.
Her hair was a mess from the massage, but her eyes were that relaxed kind of glossy that happened when you’d had your muscles worked on by a professional.
“The best?” I teased, locking the door behind us. I really couldn’t argue with her, the therapists had been top-notch. My body was free of knots and totally loose.
Her eyes met mine, then she shrugged. “Okay, maybe not the best best, but still, so good.” She headed to the little fridge in the room and grabbed a bottle of water, tossing me one too.
