I manage to crawl out from between the two men. In the doorway, I turn back to stare at them for a moment. It’s unfair how attractive they look, even while sleeping. If academia doesn’t work out, modeling could definitely be in their future.

I feel frumpy compared to them. But they like my body. They made that very clear last night, and every other time we’ve been together. Yet they’re athletic and gorgeous. I have curves, and my hair is a mess, no matter what I try to do with it.

When I finish in the bathroom, I return to the bedroom to find Mark and John slowly waking up. It’s eight in the morning, which is early for me but not for them. I’m surprised they slept in this late. I suppose what we did last night must have exhausted them.

“Good morning,” I murmur. “Do you want breakfast?”

John nods. “That’d be great.”

I’m glad we took a break between rolling around in the sheets to go grocery shopping. The fridge is stocked with everything we’ll need to eat this week. We’ll have lunch at the conference but breakfast and dinner at the hotel since there aren’t many restaurants nearby. I’d rather cook, anyway. I try not to eat out if I can avoid it. Going out with Mark and John is fun, but I much prefer eating at home. It also makes it easier for us to have some extra fun afterward. Not that we can do that today. We have a conference to get to.

“What do we want?”

“Pancakes and eggs?” Mark suggests. “Simple enough. We don’t have much time before we need to leave for the conference.”

“Coming right up!”

The guys get ready while I prepare breakfast. I consider myself a low-maintenance woman, so it won’t take me long to get dressed. Besides, I’m attending the conference as an extra guest. Mark and John are there as academics. It’s more important that they look good.

John likes his eggs over-medium while Mark and I prefer scrambled. I let the eggs cook while I whip up the pancake batter. All three of us like fluffy, delicious pancakes. I use my mom’s secret ingredient to make them perfect: a dollop of mayo in the batter. It might seem weird, but it works.

“Something smells delicious,” John remarks. He emerges from the second bedroom dressed in a nice shirt and a pair of dress pants. He has a tie hanging around his neck, untied.

“Breakfast is almost ready. Can you get the orange juice out?”

He kisses my cheek. “I like watching you cook for us.”

I blush. “I like cooking for you.”

Honestly, I don’t get to do it often. Mark usually does all of the cooking. He’s much better at it than I am, but I like contributing. Making breakfast this morning is the least I can do. Especially considering they’re paying for this entire trip.

John pours three glasses of orange juice, and I get three plates of eggs and pancakes prepared. I toast up some bread to balance out our breakfast.

“You’re amazing,” Mark says when he comes out of the room. “Thank you for making breakfast.”

“Any time,” I reply. “Now, eat up. We’ve got to go soon.”

We’re mostly quiet as we eat breakfast. We chat about random things, but nothing too deep. It’s too early for another “what’s your favorite book?” type of conversation. Anyway, I’m still mad at John for making me choose.

“You made breakfast; it’s only fair we clean up,” Mark declares, taking my empty plate. “Why don’t you get ready to go?”

I start to argue, but I do need to get dressed, so I reluctantly allow the guys to clean up the mess I made.

In my room, I open the closet to pick out something to wear. I don’t know anything about this conference, I realize. I don’t even know what the theme is. I just came along for the ride.

I opt for a conservative blue dress that falls just below my knees. The neckline is high, but not so high that it’s choking me. I add dark tights to keep my legs warm just in case. It can get cold in convention centers, I’ve heard.

When I emerge, the guys are elbow deep in dishes. I laugh at the sight.

“This is all so domestic,” I exclaim.

“You love it,” Mark responds.

The truth is, I do. We’re only on our first full day of vacation, and I already feel like I could live like this forever. It’s terrifying because I’ve only known the guys for a couple months, but it’s the truth. I have strong feelings for them, and I don’t think those feelings are going away anytime soon.

“We should get going. We can finish the dishes when we get back,” I suggest. The conference is forty-five minutes away, and it starts in about an hour. We need to get in and register, so it’s best if we leave now.
