"She might be like you," I protest. "She's barely three months old, Emmett. We don't know what she's going to be like yet. Besides, your sons are just like you. Clearly, your genes are the strongest."
"Nah, she's just like you. I can already tell. And Ava is going to love Real-Life You just as much as everyone else does. It's impossible not to love you." He kisses me again, nibbling on my lips. "You ready to stop torturing me with this perfect body now?"
"I am not torturing you with my body," I lie.
He chuckles through a groan, his jade eyes locked on my face. "Baby, you're a terrible liar. You've been flashing that hot little pussy at me all day because you know damn well that if I see it, I'm eating it."
"Have not," I mumble.
He nips my bottom lip.
"Yeah, you have. I'm your favorite distraction, Red." He smirks at me, hauling us up from the floor. "Having my hands on you calms you down like nothing else. But I suggest you get your gorgeous ass to the shower unless you want me to prove it."
"We don't have time for you to prove it!" I squeak, grabbing an armload of towels as I race past him. "Keep your hands to yourself!"
I barely even make it into the kitchen before I hear his heavy steps behind me and grin. There's no way he's keeping his hands to himself. Which means there's no way I'm getting in that shower alone.
Best life ever.
It's strange, but in a way…I'm almost grateful to Alexei Palatov. Trying to kill me wasn't okay. Of course it wasn't. But because he did, I met Emmett. My life turned out the way it did because of what he did. He paid for his crimes. From what I understand, he was killed in prison not long after being convicted.
I guess maybe that was his fate.
And Emmett and our babies are mine. Ava and football are Nate's. It took us a long time to find happiness. It took us years to bounce back from everything we went through as kids. But we did it. We made it.
It was worth it.
This life—loving Emmett—is worth anything.
