“I guess we’ll have ta wait and see what happens,” he says.

The uncertainty is goin’ta mess with his head for a long while yet. You can’t just walk away from somethin’ and expect it ta disappear. Not when there’s feelin’s involved.

I make my way indoors to find Tye. He’s got a lot of work to do fer me, and I want to get all the details as soon as possible. The clubhouse is quiet today. Usually it’s packed with girls tryin’ta get the attention of the single brothers, but there’s pure silence now. I find Tye at his computer when I walk into the office. He doesn’t even look up as I enter the room. His focus is like a feckin’ laser beam.

“Tye,” I call to him, and only then does he lift his gaze to me. “What the feckin’ hell are ye doin’?”

“I had a lock on Bragan’s men, Also, he’s been spotted in Amsterdam, so we’re tryin’ta get ahead of the bastard.” He leans back after finishin’ up whatever he was typin’ and looks at me. “What’s up wit ye?”

“I need ye to do some diggin’ fer me,” I tell him. “There’s someone I need findin’, but I have very little information about the arsehole.” I pull out the name I’ve got written down on a piece of paper and slide it across to him. “Ye’ll have te work with that.”

He picks up the note and smiles. “Aye,” he says. “I can do that.”

He sets down the paper and beckons me round to the other side of his desk where the magic happens. He opens a browser and types in some feckin’ numbers that make no sense to me, but he knows what he’s doin’. I trust him.

If anyone can find this fecker, it’s Tye.

“Leave it with me, I’ll have somethin’ fer ye in about twenty-four hours,” he says before he once again is focused on his screen. With a nod, I head out. The warehouse needs my attention. If Monster’s been interrogatin’ someone, or a few someone’s, I have a lot of work cut out fer me.

Once I’m on my bike, I start the engine, but before I can pull away, my phone buzzes in my pocket. Deep down, I know who it is, but I still smile when I see her name on my feckin’ screen.

This is feckin’ shite.

I can’t be feelin’ things fer her. She’s still a stranger ta me. And she’s also someone I can put in harm’s way, which isn’t somethin’ I ever want ta do. Clover is different. I don’t want ta let her get caught up in my world, but I’m not sure how I’m meant ta say goodbye to her. All I want is to keep her fer myself. I didn’t expect ta find someone like her, but now she’s here, I can’t bring myself ta let her go.

Her message is brief, but it makes me grin. I don’t smile, ever, but this girl, she’s fecked with my heart and mind. And now she’s goin’ta be mine. There’s no longer a doubt in my mind, I’ll do anythin’ fer her. I’m already prepared ta kill fer her when I find the arsehole who hurt her. So, there’s no longer any turnin’ back on this.

Clover is mine, and lucky or not, she’s goin’ nowhere.

SULLY

When I walk into the warehouse, it’s a feckin’ mess. It looks as if there’s been a war fought inside here, and there’s blood on every feckin’ surface. They’ve drenched the floor in deep red, and the bodies lie piled up on top of each other. Monster didn’t tell me there were multiple corpses to deal with. But this isn’t anythin’ new ta me. I’ve been around death most of my life.

Sighin’, I head over to the backroom to find my tools of the trade—a bucket of bleach and a mop that’s brand new. I go through these things faster than a whore’s knickers get dropped. But before I can do any actual cleanin’, I need ta get rid of the bodies.

As I start ta work, my mind flits back to that night. The one moment I don’t regret, but I still feel the guilt hittin’ me right in the feckin’ gut, and it knocks the wind from my lungs.

I’ve been out with mates all night, and I’m ready to fall into bed and sleep. Knackered doesn’t even cover how I’m feelin’ as I walk up ta the house. Ma has a wee bungalow on the outskirts of Belfast. It’s where I grew up, and where I know Ma loves to be. She has her own wee garden outside, with pretty colourful flowers growin’ in the summer, and in the winter, the frost eats away at the green, leavin’ nothing but white when it snows.

It’s late, nearin’ midnight. The moon is full as I make my way up ta the front door. It’s only when I unlock it with my key that I hear the crash inside. Without thinkin’, I shove open the door and race into the house. The moment I step inside, I’m met with the dim light of the dining room bulb flickerin’.
