The moment my buddies drop me to my feet, I break into a run for the stands, leaping up the wall to get to the bleachers, causing the crowd to scream in delight. I get to Rayne and scoop her into my arms.
And then I’m home. Not in Arizona, but exactly where I need to be. With my beautiful, sweet stepsister’s legs wrapped around my waist.
“You were perfect,” she says.
I know what she means. It’s not the athleticism she admires, but my ability to make it look hard, when it’s actually all too easy for me.
I drop kisses all over her face.
I don’t even have words for how happy I am to see her. To hold her. “Baby,” is all I can croak over and over again.
“Look,” she points at the stadium video screen–the one that shows replays and close-ups of fans. On it is a close-up of a baby wrapped up in a blanket.
“What?” I don’t get it.
The video camera pans back from the baby to show my dad and Leslie waving at a camera.
“Duke star Wilde Woodward became a big brother today. His parents sent this video to congratulate him on the game,” the announcer says. “Eleven pounds, twelve ounces. Looks like there will be another football player in the family.”
“Oh. Oh! Oh, wow. Did you know?”
Rayne laughs. “Yeah. They texted me just as the game started. His name is Nathanial. He and my mom are doing great.”
I grin. “It’s so weird, right? That we’re both siblings to him?”
“We’re the new measure of weird, for sure.” Rayne lifts her smiling face to me for more kisses.
I make this one slow and deep, stroking my tongue between her lips, exploring her.
I’m so taken by the moment, that it feels as if the stadiums are going wild, once more. Oh wait, they are.
Rayne pulls away, laughing, and points once more to the screen, where the close-up is on us, this time. Our kiss. Our love.
I wave and return to kissing the living daylights out of my mate. Showing her she’s mine forever. Everything I need.
