Dawson’s ring.
I looked over at him and saw the happiness and pride shining on his face. We wouldn’t always share the stage like this, but for now, I would enjoy every single show we got to be in together.
And I would kiss this man every night regardless of whether or not it happened onstage.
After a long night of meeting incredible people and making new friends in Aster Valley, we finally escaped to our hotel room in the Rockley Lodge.
“I can’t believe you proposed to me onstage in the middle of the show,” I said, staring at my ring again. I couldn’t stop looking at it.
“I got permission from everyone first,” he said, pulling off his shirt. The colorful Rent tattoo moved as his pec contracted. I wanted to lick it.
“I’m sure the additional media attention will help bring some attention to Finn’s program too,” I said, kicking off my shoes.
Dawson’s forehead crinkled. “Babe. I didn’t do it for that.”
I realized how my words had sounded. “No, shit. Of course not. I didn’t mean to imply—”
Dawson stepped into my personal space and pushed his chest against mine until my back was to the wall. “You don’t realize how long I waited.”
I blinked at him. “Huh?”
“I’ve been in love with you for a long time, Jem. So fucking long. When we first got together, it was all I could do not to beg you to move in with me, marry me, start our lives together. I knew from the beginning you were it for me.”
My breath came in shallow puffs. “Yeah?”
The edge of his lip turned up. “And I know you live for the stage. So when I tried to think about how to propose…”
“I loved it,” I blurted. “It was awesome.” And it was. I only felt selfish having those thoughts. But if everyone had agreed…
Dawson leaned in to kiss my cheek near my ear. “Good. I’m glad. But I didn’t have long enough to say what I really wanted to say.”
His sexy voice was distracting. “Uh-huh,” I breathed, wanting more kisses.
His hands slid around me to pull me closer to his body. “I love you. You’re talented, smart, funny, and kind. You not only share my passion for acting but also for life itself. I want to spend my life by your side. Jem Sinclair, will you marry me?”
“Yes. God, yes,” I said through a ridiculously huge smile, before sealing my promise with a kiss.
The following morning, the headlines were everywhere.
“Kissing Couple Steals Show… Again!”
