Me.

“I want you, Crosby. Do you hear me? You are wanted. I want to cherish you, gorgeous girl.”

“But we can’t. Unless we pretend.”

“How drunk are you?” I ask her. I’m suddenly sober. Sure, I’ve got a buzz going, but I’m not too far gone to know what’s at stake here.

“The nap helped,” she says, referring to her sleeping on the way here.

“I don’t want to be your regret, Crosby. I can’t live with that. I’d rather pine for you, dream of what it feels like to kiss and touch you freely than be a regret.”

It’s her turn to place her hands on my cheeks. “I could never regret you, Rushton Kincaid. You’re too good to be true.”

“I’m right here. This is me, as real as it gets, and I’m here with you. This is where I want to be. You can tell me I have to sleep on the couch, and I’m still going to be here. You can tell me that all I can do is kiss you goodnight and hold you, and I’d be a happy man. You tell me what you want, and it’s yours.”

“No regrets?”

“Never. Not with you.”

“I want you to sleep next to me. You promised to hold me.”

“Done.”

“But I want kisses. Lots of kisses.”

“Done and done.”

She chuckles softly. And the sound lifts the weight from her shoulders. “One more thing.”

“Name it.”

“You can say no.”

“Never. Not to you.”

“You sure about that? I could ask you to sleep on your head or something equally as crazy.”

“I’d try for you.” I’m not feeding her a line of bullshit either. For her, I would try. This woman has me being well… not me. I’m a good guy. I treat women right, but I’ve never wanted to give them the world. Crosby changed that. Changed me. I’m not sure when or how it happened, but here we are, and I’m all in.

“It’s too much to ask.”

“Try me.”

She shakes her head and tries to pull away. I wrap my arms around her waist and press her body close to mine. Bending, my lips are next to her ear. “Tell me what you need, Crosby.”

“Maybe you could take your shirt off? I just— It would be nice to feel your skin.”

My hands drop from her waist, and I reach behind my neck, grabbing the collar of my shirt, pulling it over my head, and letting it fall to the floor. I reach out and tug her into my chest. She rests her head there. Her hands wrap around my waist and she grips my bare back.

Damn, this is nice.

“Like I said. Anything.”

She’s quiet for a long time, and I don’t break the silence. I’m content to just hold her, feeling her hot breath against my bare chest. This time when she pulls away, I let her. She moves to the side of the bed that she slept on last time, and I hear her shoes fall to the floor. Knowing she’s getting ready for bed, I do the same, kicking off my tennis shoes. I want to strip out of my jeans, but I don’t want to push her.

“You can take off your jeans,” she says as if she’s reading my mind. “I don’t have anything for you to sleep in, but you did that last time, and that can’t be comfortable. I want you to be comfortable,” she rambles.

“I want what you want, Crosby. I don’t mind keeping them on.”

“Off is fine.”

Not needing to be told twice, I pull my phone and my wallet from my pockets and place them on the nightstand before discarding my jeans.

There’s a soft glow from the moon shining in her bedroom window, and I can see her shadow as she slides beneath the covers. Her legs are bare, but she’s still wearing her long-sleeve T-shirt. Knowing I’m about to kiss her until her lips are swollen or until she tells me to stop, I take my spot beside her in bed. We’re both burrowed under the covers, but she’s too far away.

“It’s okay if you’ve changed your mind.”

“Have you?” she asks.

“Get over here.” I open my arms, holding up the blanket, and she moves into my arms where she belongs. “Much better,” I say softly. “Can I kiss you now?”

“I’d like that.”

Falling to my back, I bring her with me. I slide my hand behind her neck and pull her lips to mine. I don’t want her to feel as though she doesn’t have a choice with my large body hovering over her. She’s nervous, and I know she said she’s never been hurt sexually, but that doesn’t mean she’s never been intimidated. I want her to always feel safe with me.

My lips press to hers in a soft caress. She relaxes into my hold, and her tongue peeks out, swiping at my lips. I nip at her lip, and she opens it for me. I get lost in her taste. In the feel of her tongue sliding against mine. One hand grips her ass, holding her to me. That’s when I realize there’s nothing between us but a thin piece of cotton. My cock is painfully hard, but I ignore it and keep kissing her. My hand that was gripping her neck now traces up and down her spine while the other kneads her ass. Damn, she has a nice ass. Her nails dig into the bare flesh of my chest, which has me deepening the kiss. I can’t get enough of her.
