Before I can turn the wheel, I see a light come on in one of the upstairs windows of her house. Then, after a moment, another on the bottom floor. Shit. Maybe she heard me start the car. I'm about to put it in reverse and pull out when the front door opens and Alina steps out, crossing her arms as she comes down the steps and looks around.
The light from the porch casts a glow over her, and I feel my heart skip a beat. Seeing her standing on the porch, a fierce little warrior, has my already painful erection throbbing.
She looks around, obviously trying to figure out if someone is there. I should go, but instead, I open the car door and step out, leaning against the hood as if nothing is wrong.
"Hello, Alina."
"Jesus, you scared me!" She puts a hand on her chest. "What are you doing here?"
"Watching over you."
"Well, I appreciate it,” she drawls sarcastically. “But it's time for you to go. Goodnight."
"Ah, ah," Fuck it. If she's out here, if she comes to confront me, I'll give her the confrontation she's looking for. I prowl closer, and her breath hitches, but she holds her ground.
Alina fidgets with her oversized shirt, pulling it down over her pale, sexy-as-fuck thighs."You can't keep doing this."
"I can't?" I lean down, inhaling the sweet scent of her hair. "Are you sure?"
"Yes." Her voice is shaky, and as I lift my hand, tracing the curve of her cheek with my fingertips, she shivers. "Go home, Derrick."
"Not yet. Let me walk you in." I don't tell her that I plan on doing a lot more than just walking. I have to take the edge off this need or I'm going to lose my mind.
She shakes her head but doesn't move. She's still shivering, but there's no cold out here. I know how warm she is, and the memory of her body pressing against mine is intoxicating. "It's time for you to go."
"No," I growl the word, and she gasps, her eyes flying wide. "Let's go inside." The hint of her nipples pressing against her shirt is likely to make me go feral. "You're not dressed to be out here."
"Derrick," she whispers, and a thrill goes through me.
"Say my name again, angel."
She bites her lip, and my gaze dips down, watching the motion. She's so goddamn sexy, and she doesn't even know it.
"Derrick." Her voice is soft, and it nearly undoes me.
"Good girl. I'll make sure you're in bed soon enough," I promise darkly.
She hesitates but finally nods, and relief swells through me. As long as she's in my sights, I know she's safe, and that's all that matters.
We cross the lawn, and the night is so quiet I can hear her breathing and the steady beat of her heart. I follow her in, watching as she engages the deadbolt, and then turns back to face me. She blushes, her cheeks red, and I know she feels it, too—the heat, the electricity between the two of us. As if in a daze, she sways towards me, resolve breaking.
I almost don't believe it when she reaches up to touch my face of her own accord, her fingers trailing over the stubble on my chin. Her eyes are wide, and her full lips part just slightly. I want to kiss her, but I resist, letting her explore.
"You really do look like an angel," I murmur, and her blush deepens, the color spreading down her neck and disappearing under the collar of her shirt.
"Is that why you were watching me?"
My smile widens.
I don't need to answer; she knows why. It's the same reason she's touching me right now. Because the connection between us is undeniable. I take a step forward, and like we've done this a million times, she steps back until her back hits the door. I brace my hands on either side of her, and she tilts her head up, her pulse racing under her delicate skin.
"You're playing with fire," I warn her, but I'm not sure if I'm warning her or me.
"I know."
"You're not scared."
She licks her lips. "Should I be?"
"You should be very scared." There's a teasing note in my voice. I want her heart rate up, but not out of fear. Out of excitement.
"You've been watching me. Protecting me. Why would I be afraid of you now?"
"Because if I stay here much longer, I'm going to have to fuck you." I can smell her arousal and see the way her pupils are blown wide with lust. She gulps, and my gaze drops down to her throat. "Do you want me to stop?"
"No." The word is breathless. "Kiss me."
I can't hold back anymore. I crush my lips against hers, swallowing the tiny moan that escapes her. My tongue sweeps into her mouth, and she meets me, eager and willing, and my cock solid steel against her flesh. Her body is so soft and warm, and my hands are moving, one curving over her hip, the other sliding down her front.
