“She is.” Fraser answers his mom before I can come up with a polite response. “Might need to hop into town real quick and grab a few things to make sure we have everything we need for Christmas morning.”

“Fraser?” I whisper and then peek over at him. Not only does he want us to stay, but I know he’s talking about getting a few things for Mina.

“I got you,” Fraser says once again, and I can’t help but smile up at him. He leans down to press a kiss to my lips, and for a second I forget we’re at a table full of people.

“Fraser.” I put my hand on his chest and feel my cheeks burn. “We’re not alone.” He shrugs, not caring.

“Are you boyfriend and girlfriend?” AJ asks.

“What’s that?” Mina questions him.

“Means they’re in love,” AJ tells her.

Just when I didn’t think my face could get any hotter.

“Nyah loves me,” she points out.

“Boyfriend and girlfriend are different. It’s like what you are before you get married and have babies.” Mina’s eyes get big at that.

“Nyah get married?” Mina wiggles in her seat.

“How about we eat so you can go play in the snow.” I try to cut off this line of questioning because it’s getting out of control. We’re already staying past our limit, and I don’t need to freak Fraser out. Isn’t that the kind of thing that sends men running?

“How long do you plan on staying?” Grandma fires off another question, and I feel Fraser’s fingers stop caressing my arm. Instead he puts his hand around it and gives me a firm squeeze.

“I guess I need to find out how my car is.” I pray I didn’t break something when I slid off the road.

“No rush. I think another storm might be coming,” Fraser says, and then I see his dad smirk at his son’s quick response.

“You could stay till the New Year. I always host a party. I bet you could talk Fraser into coming,” Grandma offers.

“I’ve never been to a party,” I say without thinking. My stepfather would host them, but I wasn't allowed downstairs while they were going on.

“Half the town comes, and it’s always a blast. You could meet everyone.”

“Everyone?” I thought she was joking when she said half the town.

“Why don’t we let her eat her breakfast, Ma,” Fraser says gently.

“Fine.” She pretends to be annoyed but winks at me.

It’s sweet to watch them all interact. They have the kind of family you see on television or read about. Thankfully the conversation turns to easier topics where not all the focus is on me. Grandma narrows in some of her attention on Mina, who in turn eats it up.

“You want another?” Fraser asks when I finish my cinnamon roll.

“No,” I laugh and put my hand on my stomach. “I’m stuffed. They’re giant.” I lick the icing off my finger and I don’t miss Frasier giving me a heated look. I elbow him in the side before he tries to kiss me in front of everyone again. I don’t need Mina asking me when I’m having a baby.

“How about you, Mina? You want more?” Fraser asks her next, and I don’t miss how he’s always checking on her.

“I wanna go outside.”

“All right. Give me a second.” Fraser gets up from the table. I follow.

“Thank you. It was all delicious,” I tell Fraser’s parents and try to take the dishes into the kitchen. Grandma stops me and shakes her head.

“Go get them ready before they burst. I’ve got this.”

She shoos us out of the kitchen, and Fraser grabs my hand. He leads me towards the bedroom and once we get inside I go to grab Mina’s stuff.

“I think I have her gloves in—” I’m cut off by Fraser’s mouth right before his arm comes around my waist and he lifts me off the floor. When he presses my back to the bedroom door, it closes it all the way. “Fraser,” I moan in between kisses.

He doesn’t stop until we’re both breathless.

CHAPTER 14

FRASER

“Her fingers have got to be icicles by now,” I say to my mom while I watch Mina and Nyah make their tenth snowman.

“Which one? They both seem to be having the time of their lives.” She laughs as she watches Mina jam a carrot in the snowman's crotch.

“This is new for them.” I think about all Nyah has told me and what she’s been through with her family. Taking Mina away from all that couldn’t have been easy.

“Finding peace and keeping your family safe is something you know a thing or two about.” When I turn to look at my mom, she shrugs like it’s obvious. “You couldn't control what happened to Aspen, which meant that afterwards you couldn’t find peace.” She leans against my shoulder as we watch the sisters and AJ play. “I can see why you’re drawn to her. That girl’s heart is as pure as the first snow. I believe taking care of her and her little one is finally going to give you the peace you’ve been looking for.”
