“What can I say?” He shrugs. “I can’t keep my hands off of you.”
“And I don’t want you to,” I reply. “How is everything else going?”
Callum’s eyes lock on me for a moment, and it’s almost as though I see something give behind that cold, cold blue. Then he speaks. “Well, I think we may have a mole in my organization.”
“A mole?”
“Someone who tipped off the feds so they could hit one of our warehouses,” he replies.
I may be new to this world, but I also know how significant it is that Callum is trusting me with information like this, and at that moment, a thought sparks in my mind.
“Callum,” I say slowly. “When I came out of the closet this morning…Geoffrey was at your desk.”
“Geoffrey has permission to use my computer.”
“But as soon as he saw me, he immediately closed the computer,” I say. “As though he was afraid of me seeing him there. He also checked me out pretty shamelessly.”
Callum blinks twice. “What are you suggesting?”
“My dad taught me to read people,” I say. “And I got a very bad read off of him this morning. Like he was up to something.”
Callum shakes his head. “No. Geoffrey is my most trusted man. He was the one who first came to me with this problem. There’s no way it could be him, but I appreciate you bringing this up to me.”
Taking my hand, Callum leads me to the door.
“Okay,” I reply. “I just thought I should mention it.”
Chapter Eight
Callum
* * *
The next morning, I wake up by the feeling of lips on my cock and open my eyes to see a lump beneath the sheets. I lift the comforter to see Evie, naked and gorgeous, curled up at my waist with her head bobbing up and down above my midsection. With a growl and a stretch, I reach down and thread my fingers through her hair.
“Fuck, you sure know how to wake a guy up in the morning.”
Twisting her body, Evie angles her face so I can see her eyes, twinkling mischievously up at me as she works her magic. Christ, you’d think she’d done this a thousand times by just how incredible it feels. I stroke the soft skin of her back then cup a breast. She’s gorgeous, and I’m infatuated. If I could wake up like this for the rest of my life I’d be a happy man—beyond happy.
“Yes,” I groan. “Suck Daddy’s cock.”
I reach up with one arm and stretch, my arousal boiling in my stomach. Part of me wants to leap up and fuck her goddamn brains out, but the rest of me is really enjoying just lying back while she services me. What the hell? There’s no rush, right? I might as well enjoy myself for a few minutes while she does her thing. And boy, does she do it well.
Her perfect, plump lips move up and down my shaft with such perfection that I have to use my hand to slow her down just to keep myself from coming. The warmth and wetness of her mouth has me thinking of her pussy and just how badly I want it. I won’t be able to hold out much longer, but just as her eyes catch the morning light coming in through the window and twinkle up at me just right, there’s a loud, obnoxious knock on the door.
“Boss!” Geoffrey’s concerned voice. “Boss, I need a word.”
Evie leaps up, quickly covering herself with the sheets.
“Fuck,” I curse, doing the same.
“Perfect timing,” she mutters.
“I’m so sorry,” I tell her.
“It’s fine.”
“Two seconds!” I call to him as I get out of bed and find my sweatpants. I can tell by Evie’s breathing that she’s annoyed but keeping it to herself as she makes her way to the walk-in closet to find some clothes. I manage to stuff my hard-on into my briefs and throw on a robe as I let Geoffrey into the room. “What’s up?”
“We’ve got an issue,” he says, obviously concerned. “Your paintings at the museum—they’ve been trashed.”
“Trashed? Which ones?”
Geoffrey sighs. “All of them.”
A burning rage fills my chest, threatening to overtake me, but I remember that Evie is waiting in the walk-in, and I take a breath and calm myself.
“When did this happen? Last night?”
“Last night.” Geoffrey nods. “When the staff was changing shifts.”
“Anything on the surveillance?”
“It was being upgraded,” Geoffrey replies. “They knew…somehow.”
Somehow.
“The mole.” Again, he nods. I feel the anger rising again. The investment in those paintings… “Get the car ready.”
Without a word, Geoffrey nods and leaves the way he came. I stand motionless for a moment, thinking. If this was Carl’s plan, he would have left some sign to let me know it was him. Something to mock me. That’s his style. But Geoffrey didn’t mention anything. That’s strange.
“Are you all right?” Evie’s voice causes me to turn, and I see her coming up from behind me, now dressed, wearing a black dress and a pair of black heels, looking quite professional and almost dangerous. “I heard. I’m sorry, I wasn’t trying to eavesdrop.”
