Plus, he liked when she touched him.

She flushed pink as he spoke, her hand shaking slightly. Was it too much?

But she finished cleaning him up without hesitation. “There. All pretty. Well, you could use some glitter.”

“Normally, glitter makes everything better. However, I’m still finding glitter in places that glitter should never be.”

She giggled.

“Oh, you think that’s funny, do you?” He picked her up. “Laughing at Daddy is a serious offence, you know.”

“Is it? What do I get? Corner time? A spanking?”

“Nope. You have to watch my choice of movie.”

She groaned. “Nooo. That’s so cruel.”

“It’s only what you deserve. Perhaps next time you’ll think twice about laughing at my glitter predicaments.”

“No guarantees.”

“Come on, it’s bedtime, Little girl.”

“Nooo.”

“Yep. You’re falling asleep as you sit there.”

Well, that was greatly exaggerated. Her eyes had only closed for the briefest of minutes.

Hack stood and held out his hand to her. They’d been watching the movie he’d chosen. Some comedy that was actually quite good, but she just couldn’t keep her eyes open.

She huffed out a breath but let him help her up.

“I’ll help you get undressed,” he said as they reached Ethan’s bedroom door.

Um. What now?

“I don’t need any help undressing.”

“You can’t get undressed with an injured wrist,” he replied.

“Sure, I can. Wait here.”

He scowled, but to her shock, he stood there as she closed the bedroom door.

She had to admit it wasn’t easy. And she had to use her injured wrist more than he probably would have liked. But it didn’t hurt that much.

He was just being overprotective.

Finally, she got on one of the oversized T-shirts she liked to wear to bed and moved into the bathroom to brush her teeth and pee.

Because he didn’t need to be here for that part either.

She climbed into bed. “I’m done.”

“What took so long?” he grumbled as he opened the door and strode in, his eyebrows scrunched up in a frown.

“It wasn’t that long.”

He came to a stop, his face flashing with anger.

What the heck? She froze. What was it? Was he really upset with her? Should she have let him help her pee?

“Oh no, this isn’t going to happen.”

“What?” she asked.

“That T-shirt. It’s coming off.”

“What? Why?” She stared down at her T-shirt. There was nothing offensive on it. It was navy blue with a logo for a surf wear brand.

“Take it off.” He stood, glaring at her. As though she had gravely offended him.

“What’s wrong with it?”

“What’s wrong with it? I would think that was obvious. It’s not mine.”

“Huh?” She must be exhausted, because she had no idea what he was talking about. Of course her T-shirt wasn’t his. It was hers. “It’s mine.”

“It’s a man’s T-shirt. And I won’t have it. If you want to sleep in a man’s T-shirt, you’ll sleep in mine.”

To her shock, he proceeded to take off his T-shirt. And there he stood with his chest fully on display.

Damn, the man was ripped.

And those tattoos.

She had to fight the urge to tackle him and lick every tattoo on his chest . . . his arms . . . yummy.

Then he stepped toward her with his T-shirt. “Arms up.”

“Wait . . . wait!” she demanded.

“For what?” he rumbled.

“This isn’t a man’s T-shirt.”

“Yes, it is.”

“It’s my T-shirt.”

“It’s falling off you,” he pointed out. “It’s huge.”

“I know. I bought it at a thrift store to wear to bed. I like how soft and comfortable it is.”

“You bought a T-shirt at a thrift store to sleep in?”

“I washed it,” she said defensively. She didn’t have much money and she’d been saving any spare change she had so she could buy gifts for the boys and replace her car one day.

“I wasn’t saying . . . shit. I’m sorry, baby. I didn’t mean anything by that.” He sat on the bed, facing her. “Look at me, please.”

She glanced up at him.

“I’m an idiot.”

Okay, that wasn’t what she’d expected him to say. She blinked in surprise.

“I was jealous because I was imagining some guy giving you that T-shirt and that you’re wearing it because it reminded you of him. I’m so sorry, baby girl. Forgive me?”

“I don’t know. Maybe you should spend some time in the corner.” She grinned at him slyly.

His eyes danced as he put a mock-stern look on his face. “That is not happening, brat. Nobody puts Daddy in the corner.”

She giggled. “That’s ridiculous.”

“Hey! No calling Daddy names. That’s grounds for punishment. I might have to go and buy you some new nightgowns. For now, though, you can wear my T-shirt.”

“And what are you going to wear? I mean . . . don’t get me wrong, the view is mighty fine.”

“Is it just?” He grinned like a cat that had gotten the cream.

She rolled her eyes. “You know you’re hot. But unless you brought a change of clothes, you’re going to need your T-shirt tomorrow.”
