“Prez.” Dex leans over and taps his knuckles against Rock’s. “First Lady,” he nods to Hope. “First ladies.” He grins and leans down to kiss Lilly’s cheek.

“It feels like I haven’t seen you in a long time, Dex,” Lilly scolds.

“How’s Chance? He over at the O’Callaghan compound for the night?”

“Yup. All the little ones are with Uncle Murphy and Auntie Heidi.”

Dex straightens and lifts my backpack. “I’m going to stash this in my room. You want to come up with me?”

“Sure.”

Lilly lightly touches my arm. “If I don’t see you again tonight, we’ll talk in the morning.”

“Sure.”

Dex offers his hand and pulls me up off the couch. He keeps holding my hand but tucks me behind him, slowly guiding us over to an L-shaped staircase. On the first landing, an older motorcycle is on display. The entire wall on the right side is full of framed photos. Lots of bikers proudly wearing their Lost Kings MC vests. Men riding Harleys. Road trips. Visits to what looks like other Lost Kings MC clubhouses. Several weddings. Men standing with their backs to the camera with the back patches on display and what looks like a concert venue in the background. Babies in tiny Lost Kings MC onesies. Toddlers wearing their own vests. It’s a photo album laid open for everyone to see the love and shared experiences of the club.

Dex stops when he realizes I’m rooted in place. “Are you okay?”

“Sorry. This is…impressive.” I touch the frame of one of the pictures. “Is this you?”

He stares at the photo for a few seconds. “Yeah. Patch-in party. It was a…weird time for the club.”

Huh.

He grips my hand again and continues up the stairs. Moans and groans come from our left. A guy I haven’t met yet has his back to one of the doors. Not one, but two girls are kneeling in front of him, taking turns swirling their tongues over his huge, pierced cock.

I don’t want to stare, but it’s kind of hard not to.

Dex glances at them and shakes his head. “Your room is right there, for fuck’s sake,” he growls.

The guy gives us a lazy smile. “Almost made it.”

“Christ.” Dex grips my hand harder and pulls me to a door on our right. “Sorry,” he mutters.

He slips a key into the lock and pushes the door open, ushering me inside.

“I’ve never seen a pierced penis before,” I blurt.

“Fantastic.” Dex’s face contorts into a grimace. “I’m thrilled to be responsible for showing you your first one.”

His sarcastic tone should be a warning to drop it, but I’m still so shocked my brain won’t stop sending words shooting out of my mouth. “Doesn’t that hurt?”

An amused scowl spreads over his face and he hooks his arm around my waist, yanking me against his hard body. “I don’t know. I’ve never had the urge to ram a piece of metal through my dick.” He kisses my cheek. “But feel free to stop wondering about my brother’s anatomy any time now.”

Heat flames over my face. “Sorry, I didn’t—”

He slams his mouth over mine, swallowing my apology. I melt into the kiss, forgetting all about piercings and penises.

“Emily, curiosity’s normal,” Dex whispers against my lips. “As long as you didn’t want to join them, there’s nothing to apologize for.”

He kisses me again. “But I hope it didn’t interest you too much, because I really don’t want to put any holes through my dick.”

I laugh and tickle my fingers along his jawline. “Please don’t mess with perfection.”

His hold shifts to my waist and he turns me around. “Welcome to my room at the clubhouse.”

The room’s a simple, homey square. Slightly larger than your average hotel room. A king-sized bed with a rough-cut lumber frame takes up most of the floor space. A similar style of dresser stands against one wall. A nightstand next to the bed. A reading chair, lamp, and small bookshelf in the corner.

He sets my bag in front of the dresser.

“Bathroom’s in there.” He points to the right.

I hadn’t noticed the closed door. The dark wood seems to blend into the walls.

“Are we returning to the party?” I ask.

He lifts one shoulder. “Up to you.”

The closed bedroom door doesn’t do much to muffle the sounds of the party downstairs—or the obscene noises from the hallway. But it’s easier to hold a conversation in here.

“As much as I enjoyed meeting people, I’ve been looking forward to spending time with you,” I say, hoping he feels the honesty in my words. It’s only been a couple of days since our hike at the park, but I’ve missed him.

He brushes his knuckles over my cheek, pushing my hair out of the way. “Same, firecracker.”

Dex

“Can you give me a minute?” Emily asks.

“Sure.”

She leans over and swipes her backpack off the floor, carrying it into the bathroom with her. Curiosity flows through me, but I stop and take off my boots and hang my cut in the closet.
