My father nods. “Fine. I have a guest coming as well to discuss some building permits.”
I kiss my father on the cheek and head back to my place. After packing what I’ll need to spend a few days with Ruin, I drive back to the Diamond Kings Harmony Chapter compound.
I know when I told Ruin the other day that he would need to at least meet my father I never thought about how awkward it would all go down. I’m not even sure why I’m worried at all.
I spy Ruin standing next to the other bikers near the horse paddock.
Ruin spots me and rushes over. “How did it go with your dad?” he asks.
“Good. We’re going to have dinner with him tonight.” I move into his cabin and he follows me, shutting the door behind him. “Dakota, I want to tell you something.”
“What’s wrong?”
“I’m going to meet your father, and hopefully he likes me, but if he doesn’t, that’s not gonna change anything.”
“I know it won’t.”
“I’ll still want you to move to Diamond with me.”
I rise on my tip-toes and kiss his cheek. “And I want to move there with you.”
His eyes widen. “You do? Are you sure?”
“Yes, I think this is something we need to continue. In this short time, I’ve come to care for you a lot.”
He wraps his arms around my waist. “I care a lot about you too.” And then he crashes his lips to mine.
