We stay tangled together on the forest floor talking about our future together until the sun finally dips low in the sky. Then Blade helps me to my feet, pausing to adjust my dress so I’m covered again. He hasn’t stopped smiling since I told him. I haven’t either.
He takes my hand as we walk back toward our cabin. “Daughters. I hope our first six are daughters.”
I chuckle, even though the thought that he wants so many children delights me. “Whoa, there, mountain man. Let’s see how we feel after this one.”
He stops and turns to me. The setting sun is casting a soft, pink glow over the night that makes this moment feel downright magical. “I want to raise daughters just as strong and beautiful as their mama.”
My heart squeezes in my chest, and I lean up to press a gentle kiss to his lips. He’s already the best man I know. He’ll make an amazing dad, and I can’t wait to fill our little cabin with his babies.
