He turned, leaning back against the bar with the bottle of tequila in his hand as he watched Fade fuck Brandy, who was now screaming again.

He turned to a quiet Jackal. “Better go shut her up.”

Chapter 17

Ice waited impatiently in front of Grace’s house for her to arrive. He was tired and cold, and she was an hour late. The only reason he hadn’t already broken into her house to wait was he didn’t want her to see he knew the code to her alarm. She had placed her safety in the crappy system then keyed in her code with him watching. Women made no sense. The other reason he didn’t go inside was because of the little shit.

This was the fourth week he had made the ride to Stephenville. Each Friday, they would go for a ride and stop somewhere on the road for a bite to eat. Then he would drive her home and come inside briefly before heading home again.

The little shit would always growl and try to bite him while the other one tried to crush him beneath her weight. The less he saw of them, the better. He always left his gun in his saddle bag, not wanting Grace to know he carried one as well as because he was afraid he would lose his temper and shoot the little shit before he could remember how much Grace loved the deranged dog.

Grace’s car came down the road then was swinging into the front of her garage.

“I’m sorry I’m so late. I had a student show up unexpectedly.”

“No problem.” Ice stood.

“Give me a minute, and I’ll get changed.”

“You mind if we don’t go riding tonight? My ass is sore from the drive and waiting.”

“No, not at all.”

Ice could tell she was being polite, but he didn’t change his mind about the ride. He wasn’t planning on spending the night riding around the county with her. He was going to spend the night in her bed. He had given her enough time to get to know him, and his aching dick couldn’t take the dry spell any longer.

He hadn’t fucked another bitch since Brandy. Hell, he hadn’t even wanted to fuck Brandy. The only reason his cock had been hard then was because he had spent the evening with Grace and the ride back to the clubhouse thinking about her.

He went inside with Grace, watching as she keyed in her code.

“You need to change that code every week,” Ice warned.

She looked at him, frowning. “I should have thought of that. Thank you.”

Her tiny terror came around the corner, this time sliding across the tiles into a mound of pillows Ice had suggested she place there.

“I’ll go get changed.”

“You do that,” Ice agreed, waiting for the attack to come next.

As soon as Grace turned the corner, the little shit went for him. Ice watched the dog chew on his boot, which now had several tiny holes in it, before bending over and picking the dog up by the skin of his back. Holding the dog away from his face, he brought the snapping dog to his eye level, holding his gaze. It took a few minutes before the dog stopped snapping and merely snarled quietly.

“You’re not going to hurt my dog, are you?” Grace asked from the doorway.

“No.” Ice placed the dot back on the floor. “I was showing him I’m the boss.”

“I don’t think he got the message,” she said as they both watched him tear another hole in his boot. “Come on, I’ll give him a bone and fix you dinner. You can show Bear who’s top dog later.”

Grace pulled a couple of steaks from the fridge. “You can clean the potatoes,” she said when Ice would have gone back into the other room to turn on the television.

Ice went to the sink and began washing the potatoes as she heard her cell phone ring.

“Hi, Maman,” she answered after taking her cell phone out of her pocket.

“Grace, what are you doing? I just got off the phone with CeCe. She told me you’ve been seen around town with the man who held you hostage.”

Grace’s eyes went to Ice who had stopped washing the potatoes.

She answered her mother in French as she started seasoning the steaks. “I won’t discuss Ice with you, but I will tell you we’re only friends, and there is no need to worry.”

“Grace, your father’s and my relationship started as friends, so that’s bullshit, and we both know it. Please… bébé, be careful.”

“I will. I promise I’ll tell you everything when you visit in a few weeks.”

“All right. I know he’s there, or you wouldn’t be talking in French, so I will let you go. Je t’aime.”

“Love you, too.” Grace disconnected the call.

“Don’t talk to your mom in French in front of me again.”
