I can use the second bag for food. “I can do this.”

You have to.

“Do you guys want to move down here? I’m sure Teagan would bunk up with Mallory.”

“Trying to move all our stuff in this would be a nightmare. I think it’s best we stay put.”

It occurs to me that I should probably ask about my client, considering we’re in a tropical storm and cut off from the world.

“Have you seen them? Are they okay?”

“Yes. I’m actually here grabbing food for both of their huts. They’re fine.”

I nod. “Good. I’ve been worried.”

Lies. I haven’t given two shits what that entitled prick is going through.

“You sure you don’t wanna be closer to him?” His eyes are narrowed as if he knows exactly what we’re getting up to on our private side of the island.

I smile even though I want to say fuck no. “Yep. But thanks, man.” I turn away from him and start grabbing foods that won’t go bad.

Water. Peanut butter. Bread.

By the time I have what I came for, Michael is long gone.

The rain has not slowed down in the slightest, but I’m used to it now.

Slinking the bags over my shoulders, I take off, running back down the path, the bags cracking my ass as if to say, faster.

I make it back to the hut in record time. I’m breathing a bit labored, and my arms ache.

They’ll be sore tomorrow.

I see Mallory peering out the window, waiting for me. I can’t help but laugh.

She opens the door and steps aside so I can enter. With a sigh, I step inside and join her in the warm, dry shelter. “You made it.”

I wink at her and take off my wet clothes. “You miss me?”

Mallory smiles, her eyes twinkling as she walks over to me, towel in hand. “I did.”

“How much?”

She wraps the towel around me and pulls me close, her lips brushing against mine.

“More than anything.”

A clap of thunder rips through the sky, and we both jump apart, laughing.

“Thank God you weren’t still outside,” she whispers, and I can hear the note of fear in her voice.

I look at Mallory’s face then, and my jaw tightens. Mallory must read my change of emotions because she squeezes my hand before pulling away. “Let’s eat.” I nod to the dresser, and I set the supplies down.

“What did you bring?”

“Peanut butter, bread, and a few surprises.”

She sighs. “Thanks for doing this.”

“Anything for you, Mallory.” I take her hand in mine and bring it up to my lips.

Once we make sandwiches, we sit together on the floor and eat, all too aware of the storm outside. But here, in this hut, we’re safe and content.

The rain and winds outside may rage on, but there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.

@Stargossip: Anything? Anyone out there? Earth to the island. We need news!

@Ilovebooks: Maybe we should call in a search party?

@doglover626: I think they died.

@Bradforlife: Blasphemy. Brad is fine.

Three days have passed, and Paxton has braved the weather to go back to camp for supplies, almost every one of them. It’s allowed him to check on Brad and Teagan, as there is typically someone at camp who has information.

The rain has finally stopped, but the power still doesn’t work. Something tells me that because this island is so remote, it might be a while before it’s turned on. Production is halted for the time being, according to Michael.

All around our huts is a damn mess of mud and puddles that rise to mid-shin. Paxton has gotten us enough provisions to last a few more days without even having to venture out, but Paxton is obviously growing a little stir-crazy.

The farthest I’ve gone is across the short expanse to my hut. It’s not in as bad of shape as I thought it would be. The bulk of the water is contained to the center of the room. My bed is soaked through, but because of the slits in the bottom of the hut, a lot of the water escaped, rolling down the incline and pooling at the bottom of the hill, making the path to camp a pond.

My suitcase had been stored in the bathroom, which, surprisingly, was the one area that didn’t leak. Thankfully, most of my clothes were dry.

A small miracle, considering.

“Come on, let’s go,” Paxton says from across the room, and I narrow my eyes at him from where I’m lying in bed.

“Where are we going?” I’m still under the blanket, and I’m not in any rush to reenter civilization, and by civilization, I mean the cast and crew.

“We can’t stay here all day,” he says as he lifts his brow.

“Sure, we can.” I drop the blanket and allow my breasts to show. I’m playing dirty, but I don’t care.

If my boobs on display are enough to keep us right here in this hut, away from the world, I’ll gladly pimp them out.
