Levi considered himself a loner too. Not by choice maybe, but circumstance.
“It’s the way you handle me. You dominate me. You take charge. I can only step so far, move so much—no one has ever had power over me like that. You’re the only one. It’s weird to admit it out loud, because you confuse the hell out of me, but it also turns me the fuck on when you take charge and own me,” Thane said.
“I can’t control my urges when I’m with you,” Levi confessed, angling his head.
“God knows I love our sex and how rough I like it with you, but no, I wasn’t talking about sex. It’s in everything we do—you control everything whether you realize it or not. And when I can get you to give in, it’s like an aphrodisiac.”
Levi nudged Thane as he tried to turn and look him in the eyes. “We’re leaving here at the end of the summer. There’s no question about that. I have to get them away from here and give them a new start.” Levi explained what he and his brothers had planned, what they were working so hard to achieve.
“My offices are actually there—not thirty minutes from the JHU campus. We’re jumping too far ahead, but I’ve told you very clearly, I’m only here in California because you’re here. We can see each other in both places,” Thane said.
“Thane, once we get there, I’ll have to work as much as I possibly can. I won’t be able to make the money I can at Reservations. School’ll have to be my top priority, and I also have no idea how to be a father, but I kind of am one now. I’m trying hard to navigate the things I’ve never done before. It’s been rough for me and for them. They have to come first. Luke absolutely has to come first. I need to be a home base for both of them forever. My dad asked me to take care of them, and I gave my word. I can’t let him down,” he said, laying everything out between them. Thane had to see that he wasn’t purposefully trying to control anything. Some things just had to be the way they were; he had obligations now. Time restrictions to the extreme.
“I know. I have a full understanding of what I’m walking into. Only because we’re being candid…when I decided I was going to pursue you, your situation and commitments made me pause, but only for half a second, wondering if I was good enough to help raise your brothers. I haven’t been around kids ever, but my eyes are open and I’m trying. I hope you see that.”
Levi searched the man’s eyes before again turning and fully giving Thane his back.
His heart was so full. He wanted Thane’s words to be true. Levi closed his eyes and fought all the deepening emotions. He’d truly thought he’d be alone forever, especially with his responsibilities. Fear was there, lurking below the surface, but also hope and a sense of happiness. The future felt foreign yet almost tangible in the form of Nathaniel Walker, and that was something he wanted to grab on to, and hold forever. “So, you really want to date me?”
“Yes. That’s what I want more than anything.” Thane caressed his ass again, and this time, his fingers slid along Levi’s crack. Levi pushed back against him. Thane’s digits slipped between his ass cheeks and began circling his rim.

Right now, having Thane moving behind him, whispering everything was going to be okay was all he really wanted in the world.
“I locked the door. We’ll have to keep it down. They’re sound asleep,” Thane said huskily from behind. He heard the snick of a lid opening seconds before Thane’s slick fingers breached his hole. His lover’s skilled fingers brought instant pleasure as they circled his hole then dipped in slowly, pressing and probing, massaging and retreating.
