I smiled.

“It became boring to eavesdrop,” he admitted. “Congrats on the CIA stuff, Dean, but can we talk about how you’ve patched things up?”

I shook my head in amusement. At least he was honest about it.

“I’d rather discuss who’s going to bring me chocolate,” Dean replied smoothly. “I’m allowed to eat that right now, you know.”

I snorted softly and dug out the sweets from my pocket. “Have at it.”

“Wonderful. Thank you.” He accepted them all. He liked the ones that were soft toffee with chocolate filling. “Does anyone have Nutella?”

“Buddy, there are limits,” I answered.

Macklin found us highly entertaining, though I knew his bright smile was about more than that. He’d waited for this day. Not only for our sakes but to see the return of his brother-in-law.

“I ordered you dinner, Sir,” he told Dean. “It should be here in fifteen minutes. Grilled chicken, slow carbs, and salad. I know you don’t like sticky rice, so I went with a mix of plain and brown.”

He was so wonderful, my boy.

“Pizza never struck your mind?” Dean wondered. “Or a nice steak?”

I scowled at him.

“Nope, not once.” Macklin smiled.

Dean sighed, his own smile rueful. “Fair enough. Thank you for getting me what I need and not at all what I want.”

I chuckled. There we go. “I’ll keep a look out for the delivery,” I said. I’d be able to see the car from the window in here.

Macklin nodded in understanding. “By the way, Ty is here, and he looks a little out of place. Want me to let him know you’ll be there soon, or…?”

Fuck, I’d completely forgotten. I scratched my forehead and eyed my watch. Although we’d finished most of our plans for the demo, I still needed to sit down for a moment with Lucian and Rio—but I was reluctant to leave Dean’s side before his levels were above seventy.

“Who’s Ty?” Dean asked.

“Master’s vanilla boyfriend,” Macklin responded matter-of-factly.

For crying out loud. I opened my mouth and snapped it shut again, and I shot Macklin a look. There was such a thing as timing. But he picked now to be a brat? Judging by his shit-eating grin, yes. Yes, he did.

Dean looked at me as if I’d grown a third head.

I sighed. Okay, time to regroup and get things sorted. “Brat, you can go and tell Lucian and Rio I need to postpone the demo twenty minutes. On the way, apologize to Ty from me and let him know I want to buy him a drink at the bar in fifteen. Then you can book one of the impact rooms upstairs for tomorrow mornin’, because clearly, you need a red ass before you go on your lunch date with Lane.”

And clearly, I had to explain a thing or two to Dean. We’d have to pick a day to catch up properly, but sure, I could give him the heads-up about the dynamics Macklin and I were involved in.

“Worth it,” Macklin decided.

PART IV

PROLOGUE

Lane Sawyer

Jesus Christ, I needed to bleach my eyes after seeing that motherfucking status update that haunted me from last night.

@MasterMcKenna now shares a dynamic with @DaddyOfTerra. Click here to see more.

I was gonna wash my hands of the whole thing. Those three men could do their own thing as far away from me as possible, including Macklin, ’cause I didn’t fucking know what they were up to. Something changed every day. Now Ty and Walker shared a dynamic? Sure, we’d noticed they’d clicked well in Florida, but to this degree? So what, were they together? Listing each other as Co-Tops and Partners didn’t reveal much in a world where Reese Tenley and Colt Carter were listed as each other’s cuddle bugs.

How much could change in the matter of a day or two? How quickly—I mean, Ty had just come home from Florida, right?

And Walker and Macklin were solid? Things had seemed very rocky in the past few days.

Whatever.

I scratched my head and sprayed more Clorox on the living room table, then wiped down the surface. Because while those three guys were attending some kinky event at Mclean House, this guy had spent two hundred bucks on new cleaning supplies. That was gonna be my meditation for the day.

I’d cleared the shelves above the couch and run my new duster over them. Wiped down every item on those shelves, knickknacks, picture frames, et cetera. Then put each item back. I’d thrown out my old drapes and hung new ones, a gift from my mom. They were dark blue and kept the sun out on migraine days.

I’d brushed away the snow on my balcony, as if that was even a thing.

While I’d done laundry earlier this morning, I’d also snuck into the gym to crunch five miles on the treadmill. I had my own washer and dryer, but the laundry room we had next to the garage was much better.
