She nods. "I know you're not, but..."

I reach over and put my hand on top of hers. "But nothing. The missions that we go on have to be done. Sometimes they're for security, and sometimes we're helping people that no one else can help."

She blinks at me, and her eyes are wide. "Do you hurt people?"

I tilt my head to the side and look at her. I won't lie to her. "We try not to, but sometimes we don't have a choice."

She picks up the empty beer in front of me and holds it up. "Do you want another one?"

I'm still holding on to her other hand, and I don't let it go. "No, I'm good. So are you going to go with me to Whiskey Run?"

She blows out a breath. "I don't know."

In frustration, I can't help but ask her, "What have you got keeping you here?"

She doesn't hesitate in her response. "Nothing. My uncle is here, but I’m pretty sure he’d be happy to get me out of his hair, but I won't have anything in Whiskey Run either."

I put my hand on the side of her neck and pull her toward me. Our mouths are so close, but I don't kiss her, not yet. Looking her straight in the eye, I tell her, "You would have me."

Her hand goes to my chest, up my shoulder to the side of my neck. She squeezes me there, and I lean into her touch. "Oh, Diesel," she says, and then I can't wait any longer. I kiss her until we're both breathless. The feeling is so intense. The need to have her is overwhelming, but I pull back and look at her. I'd almost forgotten where we were at. A few guys that are in the clubhouse are looking at us with big, cheesy smirks on their face. No doubt they thought they were about to get a show, but I ignore them and look at Brandy. Her eyes are dilated as she stares back at me.

I would love nothing more than to take her right here, right now. But that's not an option. "Honey, you have no idea what you do to me."

She smiles at my words and picks up the bottle before walking away. There's a shimmy in her step, and I can't take my eyes off her ass as it shakes back and forth. Her confidence has grown lately, and I love seeing her like that.

When she walks back toward me, I hate to take the light out of her eyes, but I have to know. "Have you heard anything from Axel?" I hold my hands up before she says anything. "And no, I don't think that he will bother you again. There's no way he has the balls to go against the club, but I'm just curious if you've seen him around."

She smirks. "Well, at least if you're asking me about him, I know you didn't kill him," and then laughs. "But no, I have not seen him." I can see the thoughts forming in her mind, no doubt remembering the night that Axel went after her. I hate bringing it up, and even though I truly believe he’s going to leave her alone, I still had to ask. Now I need to get her mind somewhere else. "So I'm thinking me and you need to go on a date."

She perks up at that. "A date, huh?"

I laugh and nod my head. "A date."

She doesn't even play hard to get. "Well, you name the time and place, biker boy, and I'll be there." She leans across the bar and kisses me on the cheek before pulling back. "I have to get back to work."

I sit here for the rest of the night, watching her work, thinking about how I can convince her to be my old lady.

Chapter 8

Brandy

A few nights later, I'm working at the bar at the clubhouse. Diesel talked a few times about us going on a date, but we haven't been able to work the time out yet. The truth is it seems like the guys have been really busy with a mission, plus all of the packing and getting ready to move to Tennessee. I still haven't told Diesel my decision on what I want to do, but tonight when he gets back, I'm going to tell him that, yes, I'll go to Tennessee with him. We still have yet to take our relationship to the next level, and I know that a lot of that is because of me. He's waiting for me to be ready. But I’m ready... more than ready.

The clubhouse is pretty quiet tonight. Instead of serving beer, I've been packing up things. Twenty of the guys are going to Tennessee. Half as many are going to be staying here. So I'm splitting up what's going and what’s staying. There seems to be a hush across the room, and the guys that are here are on edge. Whatever the mission was today, I think it may have gone off the rails a little bit. Nobody tells me anything, but walking around and doing my thing, I hear bits and pieces.
