“I am a success.” Dana’s voice was betraying him along with his cock. She was winding on top of him while she degraded him. “Maybe not by your friends’ standards.”
“Shh. We don’t have to talk about that right now. I’d rather you stop scowling at me like that and put your hands on me.” Jessica bent down and peppered kisses on his neck, trying to get him in the mood. Honestly, it didn’t take much for him. She smelled of expensive bath oil, the one that left her ivory skin soft and supple. He closed his eyes and dropped his head back against the thick cushion. If only Jessica would like him for him, but lately all she seemed to do was tell him what he could be… what she wanted him to be. “Go brush your teeth so you can kiss me.”
“What?” Dana opened his eyes and gripped her shoulders, pulling her back so he could look at her face.
“You know I hate the taste of beer. You’ve had like four already.” She shrugged, leaning back in to his neck. “Maybe a shower, too.”
“Get up,” Dana snapped under his breath. He kept his voice calm. He was too tired to argue. He waited for her to climb off him, trying not to take it personally that she didn’t want to kiss him or touch him unless he was fresh from the shower. Didn’t matter he’d already showered before he picked her up, the thought of him smelling like the public and beer was too much of a turn-off for her. He went in the bathroom and closed the door. What the fuck am I doing? He turned on the shower and rinsed himself again. When he finished, he brushed and flossed just in case and came out wearing nothing but a towel. When he pulled his cover back he noticed she’d changed the sheets while he’d been in the bathroom. They weren’t his, either. This wasn’t the first time she’d come over with her own expensive sheets and towels. Like his shit wasn’t good enough. She didn’t say anything, just remained focused on the text she was typing on her phone. He pressed power on the remote, plunging them into darkness. He wasn’t even in the mood anymore. From the way she turned over, still conversing with whomever she was this late at night, she obviously wasn’t either.
Dana
Dana pulled up to the gym and put his classic Chevy Nova in park. He rubbed his tired eyes, wishing he’d gotten more sleep than he did. Jessica ended up texting and talking on the phone with numerous friends until early in the morning. He asked her repeatedly to keep it down but all she did was rub her manicured feet up and down his legs, never breaking stride in her conversation. He looked over when Brian tapped his arm. He understood when Brian signed, asking if he was okay.
“Yeah. Just didn’t sleep well.”
Brian leered, raising his eyebrows. He signed very slowly and dramatically so Dana could recognize it. “Long night with girlfriend?”
“Not in the way you’re thinking, hound dog. I wish that was it.”
“Shot down?”
“Not really. I’m jumping through fuckin’ hoops again, man. It’s embarrassing to even say that. I got to let her go. We’re not gonna go the distance, so why am I even kidding myself. Hell, we’re not even going to make it another month.”
“Why?”
“Because she can barely stand anything about me. Or anything about me outside the bedroom, and now even that room is having problems.” Dana looked up when Brian motioned a few words he couldn’t put together. “I have no idea what you just said, Brian, but it’s probably not good, anyway.”
Brian pulled out his phone and pulled up his text to speech app. He tapped a few keys before Dana heard the male computerized voice through the speaker. “Why did you even take her back? Last I remember, you said she could be mean and demanding.”
“She is demanding and a bit naïve. But mostly, she’s gotten even more stuck up than before. It’s like I’m a project to her, man. Someone she can mold into the perfect man she can bring home to Daddy Warbucks. Then she’d have her bad boy in bed and a proper one with impeccable manners on her arm at her society functions. I shouldn’t’ve taken her back. But she promised things would be different. I guess it was wishful thinking on my part. Besides, I been feeling… about. Oh never mind. I’m gonna break it off before things get too far, ya know.”
Brian clamped him on his shoulder and nodded his head for them to go inside. Being late wouldn’t be overlooked by Duke. He was never in a good mood when Vaughan was out of town.
“Hey, why’d you want me to pick you up, anyway?” Dana hefted his bag onto his shoulder and held open one of the wooden doors to the gym.
