When Dev emerged, Ewan was on his way into the toilets, a jar in his hand too.
“Success?” He grinned.
“Yeah.” Dev hid the bottle in his hand. Ewan didn’t need to see his urine—unless he was into that, and Dev sincerely hoped he wasn’t.
“Wish me luck.” Ewan brushed past him on his way to the cubicle.
CHAPTER SIX
As he stepped out of the health centre into watery April sunshine, Ewan held the door open for Dev, who gave him a shy smile.
They stopped on the pavement outside. It had rained earlier, and the ground was still damp underfoot. Now the sky was pale blue between patches of grey and white cloud. Seagulls screamed overhead, their shrill voices carried on the breeze.
“So, where do you want to go?” Ewan was looking forward to spending some time with Dev and getting to know him better.
“The Student Union café?” The breeze lifted Dev’s dark hair, ruffling it, and he brushed his fringe out of his eyes.
“Okay.”
It was only about a five-minute walk away and was one of the cheapest places around. As they walked, Ewan asked, “So, do you want to start your, er, lessons with me this weekend?” He tried to sound casual.
Dev shrugged. “Don’t you think we should wait for the test results? I could help you with your maths again, though.”
Ewan thought he’d die of sexual frustration if he had to sit through another tutoring session with Dev, with no promise of more at the end of it. “You don’t need test results for hand jobs. We could start with that.” He glanced sidelong at Dev, who kept his gaze fixed on the path in front of him. “And more kissing, of course—if you want?”
Dev snapped his head up then and met Ewan’s gaze as though checking his expression for something. Ewan wasn’t sure what Dev was looking for.
“Yes,” Dev said emphatically. “Yes. I, um, I think I need more practice at that.” He looked ahead again, but a smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
“You did very well for a beginner,” Ewan said.
Another shy glance sideways from Dev, and Ewan grinned.
Dev smiled back. “Thanks.” His cheeks went pink. “So, yeah. This weekend sounds good. When are you free?”
“I don’t have any plans. How about Friday night?” Not that Ewan was impatient or anything.
“Sure. Maths and then hand jobs?” Dev’s voice was completely serious, but Ewan couldn’t keep a straight face.
He chuckled. “Yeah, I guess. It would be a bit of a downer to go from sex to maths. The sex can be the reward after all that studying.”
“But for me the sex is the studying. So what do I get as a reward?”
“Hmm. That’s tricky. Well, I guess if you get me off first, then your reward is getting to come afterwards.” Heat prickled down Ewan’s spine at that thought and his cock thickened.
“Sounds fair.” Dev’s voice was a little strangled.
Movement in Ewan’s peripheral vision made him look and catch Dev adjusting himself. Ewan was glad he wasn’t the only one affected by the conversation—some intense verbal foreplay, and they had another two days before they got to follow through. But knowing he had to wait somehow made it all the more exciting.
They’d reached the Student Union, and they made their way to the café. It was fairly busy, but there were some tables free, so they went to bag one.
“Do you know what you want?” Ewan asked. “I’m not sure what I fancy yet, but I can go and order for both of us if you already know?”
“Yeah. I’ll have chocolate milkshake, please.” Dev pulled out a chair and sat down.
“Anything to eat?”
“No thanks. But can you get me the deluxe one with the whipped cream? Then it’s kind of like a meal anyway.”
“Sure.”
Ewan went up to order, trying to decide what he was in the mood for. He ended up buying a cup of tea and a danish pastry.
Ewan carried the laden tray back to their table and sat down. “Here you go.” He passed Dev his milkshake.
“Thanks.” Dev pushed some coins across the table towards him.
“Oh, you didn’t need to….”
But Dev shrugged and didn’t take the money back, so Ewan pocketed it, feeling a little… not hurt, exactly, but put in his place, maybe? He reminded himself it wasn’t a date. There probably wasn’t a name for what it was—not hanging out with a friend either, because he didn’t know Dev that well yet. Whatever else happened between them, Ewan hoped Dev would eventually become a friend, because he was drawn to him in a way that was hard to quantify. Dev was cute, sure, but Ewan’s fascination was born of more than just his physical appeal. Dev was a peculiar mixture of shy and forward, and Ewan never knew what to expect from him. It was unsettling but exciting too.
