“The same my love. Until my dying breath.”
Forever.
Epilogue
Everleigh
Ten Years Later
“Do you have everything?” I ask my son who is currently the spitting image of his after. He is bouncing his baseball in his hand, refusing to let the door go so we can walk out. “DJ let’s go.” I tell him trying to get him in the car, so he doesn’t miss practice.
“Mom you know you have to go out ahead of me. I have to hold the door and make sure it is locked.” His face is so serious it takes everything in me not to laugh. His father has drilled it in him that when he is not around, it is his job to look after his younger siblings and me.
Nodding my head, I walk out the door, so he comes out. He checks it and makes sure it is locked before opening my car door for me and helping me inside. “Thank you sweet boy.” I kiss his cheek before he closes the door after me and comes around to get in.
“Did you talk to dad?”
“Yes. he is leaving work as we speak. He will be there waiting for us, and Cami has the kids.” he nods his head and looks out the window. Taking a moment, I can’t help reflecting on the past ten years.
Once the news broke of Dalton and I relationship, the media was not so nice to me, but I chose to focus on the pregnancy and the baby once he was born. When it came time for his second term, he was unsure whether or not he would rerun, but by then, I was happy and secure in our love and life, that I promised him I could handle it and to go for it. Hell to be truthful, by then we had two toddlers and a newborn, and I was already pregnant again, so nothing was as rough as that. Besides, by the time Korahleigh, our second born came, the world was a lot more accepting.
So, when he was re-elected, I used part of his foundation to start one of my own under their umbrella. It is called the ForEVER a Momma Foundation. It specializes in helping teen moms and dads, as well as single mothers find the help they need. We have built housing and nurseries and we give out yearly scholarship to those who finish our program and are looking toward higher education. Needless to say, the world did a 180 on their position on me and us.
When his last term was over, I think we both breathed a sigh of relief. He went back to running is company and aside from being a full-time mom which is my greatest job, I run all of his foundations along with a board that I could do nothing without.
Cami, the head of my security at the time, stayed on as security for our children and her wife, Sarai, is our in-house chef. They have their own villa on our property, and it works out for all of us.
“Mommy.” My little Kayleigh comes crashing into me when we pull up to the parking lot.
“Walk, Kay.” She lifts her arms so I can pick her up and my heart melts. I bend but am interrupted by a growl and a disapproving stance.
“I know you were not going to pick her up, wife.” oops.
“She’s my baby.” I answer, shrugging my shoulder.
“I think this one would take issue with that.” He hands me Zayleigh our ten-month-old and she immediately starts pulling for my bra.”
“Yeah. She is a bit hungry.” My husband says with a look of amusement on his face. Rolling my eyes, I pull myself out while he drapes a blanket over the both of us and escorts us inside the building.
“You are here early, husband.”
