“I can tell you right now,” Sky said. She reached for her new mate’s hand and smiled up at him. “We’ll be staying on the Mother Ship. We want to raise our child among own kind.”
She could feel Torin’s rush of happiness through their bond as she spoke. He hadn’t really wanted to live on Portex Three—though he had been more than willing to do so, if she decided she wanted to stay for the sake of her career. But Sky had lived in exile, away from her people, for most of her life. Coming to the Mother Ship felt like coming home.
She liked the Serpentine people and she would miss her job as a Special Agent for the Peace Keepers, but she was also excited to start a whole new career…and a whole new life with Torin.
“I’ll need to call my Captain and give her my resignation,” she told Torin. “But I think she’ll understand.”
“I’m sure she will, baby.” He gathered her into his massive arms and hugged her. “Gods, I love you so much! I never dreamed I could ever be this happy!”
“Neither did I, Giant.” Sky hugged him back and pressed her face to his neck, breathing him in. “Neither did I.”
