“Thanks. Ride safely.”
Chapter 34
Love and War
Ox
I’m a little curious as everyone starts to rejoin the party. They have all changed, most in what looks like customs. I shake my head, I can only imagine what’s coming next.
I trip and flop down on the couch next to Rome. Oh yeah, I’m on the right side of drunk now.
“Okay, I see everyone’s back. We can get this party started now. Game night has begun,” Skittles calls out as she moves to stand before the fireplace.
I groan. It’s a good thing I am drunk. When she speaks again, I think I need another drink.
“We’re playing as partners. All couples pair up. Kelex, you and Shawna can be a team. Rome, you’ll play with Scarlett.”
“Let me guess. I have to play with her,” I say and point to Alexis as she appears in a maxi dress with a deep V and splits up the sides. As sexy as the dress is on her, that’s not what stands out. It’s the long-as-fuck blonde wig.
She flips it over her shoulder and comes to take the seat next to me. The moment she sits, her scent blows my way and makes my mouth water.
“I hope that isn’t a problem,” she says and crosses her silky legs.
I grunt and ignore her. There’s a part of me that almost wants to get up and take off to find my son and call it a night.
Skittles continues as if I haven’t said a thing. “Okay, for this one, we’re going to do karaoke with a twist. I’m calling this one, Talk to Me. Ox, you and Lex can go last. You weren’t here when we got to pick our songs earlier.
“The point is to pick a song that speaks to your partner. Something that will put into words what you can’t outside of a song.”
“I’m going to call it a night. That’s it for me, folks,” I say and stand.
“Sit your ass down,” Pit says as he sits in one of the accent chairs with his head back, looking up at the ceiling. “If we’re doing this. You’re doing it.”
“It’s this, or you let me put some ink on that unmarked skin. I’ve been wanting to get a piece on you for years. You ready to claim your asshole badge?” Deacon says.
I scowl. I’ve always told myself my first piece would be meaningful to me. Something life altering. The assholes’ bonded over that accident. Their tats represent their individual experiences from that night. I wasn’t there, not really.
I don’t think that’s the tat I want to call my first. Yeah, I’m grateful they’re pulling me in, but I don’t think I’m ready for the tat. I glance at Alexis and see the smile my son looked up at me with earlier.
Yeah, I know what my first tat will look like. “Nah, not tonight, but I’m coming to see you soon.”
I retake my seat. “We’ll go first,” Luke says.
I lift a brow. Oh this is going to be good. Since we’re going last, I settle back into the couch and throw my arms over the back. Syd is the first one up.
While she does a cute version of “Giving You the Best That I got,” I think Luke got confused by the assignment. By the time he finishes Drake and Timberland’s “Say Something,” Skittles is laughing hysterically as Syd pulls a face while she glares at Luke.
“What was that?” she asks as Luke leads her back to their seats.
He tugs her into a kiss. “What? It’s not like we had a lot of time to pick. The song is fire. This isn’t about us.”
“Come on, babe. Let’s show them how it’s done,” Skittles sings and jumps up for her turn.
She and Pit have changed into outfits that have me a little confused. She has changed her wig out for a jet black one that’s hanging down to her ass like the blonde one Alexis has on, but she also has on thigh-high, heeled boots and little shorts with a blazer over them and what looks to be nothing more than a bra underneath.
I brush the thought off as the music starts. I think we’re all entertained as her little ass stands up there singing “Stand by Your Man.”
She has Pit sitting in what I’ve dubbed the hot seat while she sings and walks around him. He’s grinning like a happy goof. Good for him, he’s having fun.
That’s all I wanted for tonight. If he’s happy, I’ll go along with all this. When it’s Pit’s turn, I don’t know what to expect.
I should have known my brother wasn’t going to sing anything. At first, I think he fucked up like Luke, but as the song starts, I shake my head at him and Skittles.
The outfits start to make sense. Pit has on a rope chain with a T-shirt, jeans, and construction boots, looking like a fake-ass rapper. “Overdose” by Prodigy and Remy Ma bumps through the speakers as Skittles stands with her arms folded over her chest as she bobs her head.
