As I look around, everyone seems happier. Everyone except Shawna and Leo. I get that Leo is still in the dumps over Kid.
However, I’m not sure what’s going on with Shawna. She seems… jumpy and nervous. I narrow my eyes, trying to figure her out.
Uncle Blake removed the guys I had tailing her. Yet he wouldn’t tell me why. I never know what that man is thinking.
“Happy birthday,” Rome says as he comes over and pats me on the back.
“Thanks.”
Pit and Skittles decided to throw me a birthday weekend after all the drama. It’s starting with a party bus tonight that’s leaving from my house once everyone arrives, everyone but Kid. She’s still in the hospital in a coma.
Each day is a struggle for Lex. She goes to sit with her for hours. They are hopeful. The swelling on her brain went down, but Leo says she needs time to heal. She was beaten pretty badly.
I wish Leo knew who this guy was. I owe him a visit. I plan to stomp the shit out of him before I end his life. Kid didn’t deserve that shit, no matter how angry I was with her.
“Yo,” Pit croons as he comes over with shot glasses in his hands.
I look behind him to see my mini-me is following him with his sippy cup in his hand. My little guy is stealing the show in his khaki cargo pants and white button-up. The little blue sneaker boots make the fit. He looks cool and ready to party.
I shake my head and laugh because I’m wearing the same thing and his top three buttons are sitting open on his shirt, just like mine. I even let the top of my hair grow out the way it was when I first met Lex so my son’s dark silky curls match mine. Although his are longer and all over his head.
“Lex, come here, baby girl. Take this shot with us,” Pit calls across the room to Lex, who’s talking with the ladies.
We’re still waiting for Kelex and Jeff to arrive. Kelex had to make a stop or something, and Jeff is giving him a ride. Once they arrive, we’ll board the bus and head for the cabin.
I can’t take my eyes off my wife as she saunters her sexy ass over to me. The pink dress she has on covers everything, but she’s a smokeshow with those curves. She might as well be naked.
Is it me, or do her breasts look bigger tonight? I shake the thought away as she places her hand on my chest and tucks into my side. I wrap an arm around her waist and kiss the top of her head.
Pit hands me a shot and holds the other one out to Lex. She shakes her head. He shrugs and downs the shot then holds the other one up toward me.
“To my little, big brother. May you have all the shit you dream of and wake happy every day,” he says. “Happy born day, bro. Assholes for life.”
“Assholes for life.” I throw the shot back and look down at Lex.
Pit walks off, barking out orders as usual while grumbling about Kelex taking too long. I laugh and shake my head. Then I turn my attention to my wife.
“You waiting to get to the cabin to get started? I’ve got AJ, it will be a while before I’m tipsy and that nanny is here. Enjoy yourself.”
She smiles at me. “No, that’s not it.”
I search her face with my gaze. “Your stomach still bothering you from that bad sushi?”
“I don’t think it was the sushi, Ant.”
I place a hand on the back of her neck and start to massage it. AJ moves to wiggle between us. I glance around for that expensive-ass nanny we hired for the weekend to watch all the kids.
Not seeing her, I pick AJ up and try to focus on my wife. I’d hate it if she’s not feeling well and I have to cancel on everyone. I’m not leaving her behind.
“You want to lie down before we have to leave?”
“No, I’m fine.”
I narrow my eyes. “Lex?”
“Remember that night with the spreaders? The one when you kept coming inside me.”
I’m thrown back to that night. It was fantastic. She was so wet and she looked great sprawled out for me. I finally took her ass for the first time that night too.
I bite my lip and focus, wondering if she’s telling me she wants a repeat when we get to the cabin. I can go pack the spreaders now. I already have the cuffs and a little something special for her pleasure in my bag.
“I see you do remember,” she laughs, pulling me from my thoughts.
AJ squirms in my arms to get down. I release him and he takes off to go sit with the guys as they horse and joke around. Once he’s safe in Deacon’s lap, I turn my attention back to Lex.
