Declan’s earlier comment about Archer not having enough blood in his brain to think had been right on point.
Nodding at his question, I was grateful Tyer was going to be doing the shoot.
So was Archer judging by his whispered words. “He’s really not this…intense?”
I wanted to laugh because from what I’d heard and the few other shoots I’d seen over the past two weeks, Eli and Roman were on their best behavior today. No one wanted to upset Archer or some of the other more nervous models who were coming in for the fun practice shoot.
I found myself giggling again when Archer wiggled closer to whisper to Declan. “I’m glad you’re not insane.”
Declan managed not to laugh as he nodded. “Ditto.”
Something about his Dom’s response had Archer smiling and curling closer to Declan as the shoot started to wind down. Of course, we’d been waiting for just one more photo for about half an hour, not that anyone seemed to mind.
Archer and Declan had both seemed to get more comfortable as they’d watched, tucked away in the corner sitting on the floor, and I had a feeling the extra time had been good for both of them. As for me, I had to admit that I was missing my guys and was ready to get this show on the road so that I could go play with my boy, but I knew this was going to be good for Archer.
I also wished we’d managed to snag chairs because the floor was hard on my ass.
Keeping one eye on Archer and the other on the fun chaos of the shoot as everyone started getting dressed again and letting the seriousness of work fade away, I was surprised when Archer froze and got another startled look.
Now what?
Leaning over, I kept my voice low so I wouldn’t embarrass him in a bad way. “You’ve gone very still. You okay?”
He nodded and whispered back, finally looking fun nervous, not startled and worried. “Just scaring myself with the idea that Carter might see me on the site.”
That made me laugh. “Oh, I’d pay to see their faces when they realized you aren’t as boring as you pretend.”
Archer shoved his shoulder into mine and tried to look serious as he frowned. It didn’t work. “At work I want to be as boring as I look.”
I scoffed and rolled my eyes but nodded since that was what he wanted to see. “Whatever makes you happy. But I think we both know you work for the most unique family ever and they wouldn’t mind.”
Local gossip and just the stories Archer had told me said his boss was not vanilla or boring in any way.
Archer was dramatic and stuck his fingers in his ears. “I don’t want to hear about my boss's sex life.”
As Declan and I both laughed quietly, he huffed. “Work is for work, not telling weird stories of your weekend at a BDSM club.”
Oh, that was right.
“I forgot there was a club around here. Where is it?” Ian had mentioned something about a club, but I’d been distracted…what had he said?
Archer shrugged and gave me a look like he thought I was insane. “I don’t know exactly. Somewhere up near DC.”
Yes, I was going to have to look into that…especially now that I was thinking about staying, as long as I could find a decent apartment.
No matter how sweet and patient Wesley was about the whole thing, I couldn’t live in his guest room forever.
And speaking of my cute temporary landlord, Wesley magically appeared with Tyler at the top of the stairs, surveying the chaos and the way Eli and Roman were climbing all over each other, kissing in the corner.
I loved how confident he looked even though I knew how nervous coming into the studio made him. Eli’s exuberance was not something Wesley was comfortable with, but they were both doing much better at establishing boundaries and staying in those boundaries.
It was hard for Eli, but he wanted Wesley to be comfortable, so he was trying.
He even stopped making out with Roman as soon as he realized the audience had shifted. He looked over, grinning, and bounced across the room, excitedly greeting Wesley.
“I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet.” Wesley was so cute as he practiced laying down boundaries, but Eli’s enthusiastic nod didn’t give any hints about what he was really thinking.
As they started moving deeper into the room, we stood and Archer’s nerves started growing again as his shoot got closer to becoming a reality. So, deciding he needed a distraction, I grabbed his hand and tugged on it. “Come on.”
When we reached Wesley and Eli, I gave them all a big smile and nodded toward Archer. “Wes, this is Archer.”
And because teasing always made things more fun, I grinned at Archer. “I can’t call him Wesley anymore because the way his Dom says it just ruins it for anyone else.”
