Kenton wasn’t subtle in the slightest.
“Go give Eli a hug and then call Bane.”
Bishop jumped in before Kenton could move. “And then come back and tell us what he said.”
There was an us now?
Kenton giggled, but as he slid out of the booth, he sighed and gave us wide eyes. I would’ve fallen for it, but Bishop was a firm pup and shook his head. “No, looking cute and pouting will not get you out of this.”
Maybe he wasn’t a sub?
Huffing, Kenton nodded. “I know…but I’m a very cute pup.”
Bishop gave him a big smile that had Kenton standing straighter as he rose. “You’d definitely be cute and Bane is going to remember how cute you are when you explain it.”
“He seems sweet. It’ll be fine.” Hopefully?
Bishop’s pep talk was a bit funnier than mine. “And when in doubt, tell him how good your tail makes you feel so he’ll be curious about seeing that.”
Kenton turned a fun strawberry color and hurried away from the table as we laughed. As he ran off to, hopefully, work up the courage to call Bane, I leaned back against the wall and looked up at Bishop. “You’re a handful.”
He laughed, delighted and grinning. “Oh no. I’m very sweet.”
“Those two things are not mutually exclusive.” My response just had his cheeky grin widening even more. “Do you think it will go alright?” I couldn’t help asking as I watched Kenton make his way toward the front door of the bar. Bishop’s soft sigh had me glancing back up at him.
“Based on personal experience?” When I nodded, he continued. “No. But that’s why I pushed him to do it now. You’re here to make sure he’s okay after.”
Fuck.
“That’s what we’re here for, you mean.” Trying not to look sad, I reached up and patted his arm, ignoring the hard, warm muscles under my hand and the way sparks seemed to fly from just the simple touch. “You’re part of this drama now.”
That had him perking up.
“Fine. We’re going to make him feel better.” He looked toward the front of the bar where Kenton had stepped outside. “Maybe the guy is nice?”
Bishop didn’t seem to believe it, but I was hoping he was right. “I’ve met some nice guys in the area.”
Just not Daddies…or Doms…or ones that were gay.
Some of that must’ve come through in my tone judging by the way he raised one eyebrow. “Okay, so I’ve met some very nice straight vanilla guys lately?”
He chuckled. “I take it there’s no Daddy in the picture?”
“No.” I wanted to pull a Kenton and sigh, but I forced myself to sit straighter and look around the room. “But I have a lot of work friends that are fabulous and I can’t complain about my life.”
I must’ve pushed the excitement level a bit too high because his smile was soft and understanding now. “I’m glad.”
Now it was his turn for his excitement to look a bit forced. “Do you do on-camera work? I’m not trying to sound creepy, but I’m pretty sure I’d remember you if you’d been on the lingerie side of things.”
Blushing, I shook my head. “I work in the IT department mostly, but I’ve been thinking about it? I’m just not sure I’m the model type, but Eli keeps asking and he’s…persistent?”
I might not be ugly, but I wasn’t the sexy model type.
He snorted and gave a wonderfully dramatic expression that said I was ridiculous. He was sweet, but I had to laugh at his explanation. “I have done extensive research on the models at this company…to understand Wesley’s job and the market, of course. So I can confidently say you are the model type.”
That did not help my blush to go away…or help my heart to stop pounding.
“I have no idea what to say to that.” I knew I wasn’t homely, but surrounded by the rest of the models, I’d stand out like a sore thumb. “But thanks.”
He scoffed, clearly understanding my reservations. “Did I explain I had extensive experience? Don’t worry. We’ll fix this. I know just how to fix this.”
He was definitely a helpful pup.
“How about we just start hanging out since I’m pretty sure that will be good for my ego?” My response had him laughing and nodding.
“Deal. I’m probably driving Wesley nuts being around all the time, so finding someone else to annoy is a good idea.” His grin turned wicked as I laughed. “But I make no promises about not being pushy.”
“Hey, no threats.” My teasing had him giggling, but we were both cut off as Kenton ran back over to the table.
His wide-eyed shocked face gave me nothing to go on and Bishop’s sigh said he was in the same boat. I couldn’t help whispering as Kenton rushed toward the table. “Fingers crossed.”
As Bishop made a quiet agreeing noise, Kenton froze and sucked in a breath. “He wasn’t surprised.”
