“Well, would it be too much trouble if we added a third?”

“Baby, we can add ten more. The more the merrier.” I run my hands up her waist and squeeze her tits.

“That’s good because…” She takes my hands and slides them back down to her belly.

“Really? Are you kidding?”

“Nope. You shouldn’t be surprised with the way we’ve been doing it lately.”

“What can I say? We just moved into a new place. We have to christen every room.”

“And the barn, and the tree swing, the car…” She laughs. “Are you happy?”

“I’m over the moon, baby girl. You’re the best wife and mother any man could ask for.”

Michael’s line moves, and he shouts, “Daddy, fish!”

“Well, excuse me while I assist Captain Ahab with that whale. We’ll celebrate this news properly tonight after we put the kids to bed.”

I help Michael reel in his first catch of the day, but even as I take in his excitement, I can’t stop thinking about the news. I’m going to be a father again.

If you had told me five years ago that I would marry the girl of my dreams and have children, I would have laughed in your face. I didn’t think that a life like this was in the cards for me. It’s hard for me to even remember the days when I sat alone in my apartment jerking off to two-dimensional representations of Marissa. Now, she’s right here—in the flesh—and just as sexy as she was the first time I laid eyes on her.

We take Michael’s fish off the hook, and he poses with it so his mother can take his picture. He’s so proud that he practically dances the whole time as she struggles to steady him.

“Come on, Daddy. You helped. You need to be in the picture, too,” Marissa calls to me.

“Yeah, Daddy. Come!”

I take my place beside my little boy and put my hands on his shoulders. Marissa snaps the picture, looks down at it, and smiles.

“This one’s a keeper,” she says. “I’m gonna print it and frame it so you can put it on your desk.”

I help Michael drop his fish in the cooler and reset his line then join Marissa and Mandy at the back of the boat. Mandy has her life vest on and Marissa says, “We’re going in. Do you want to join us?”

“No, I prefer staying topside. Michael and I will just keep fishing.”

Mandy dives off the edge of the boat and takes off like lightning in the water. Marissa leaps in behind her and looks up at me. I know that she and I are thinking the same thing. Mandy has taken to the water just like her mother.

“You think we might have another Olympic hopeful on our hands?” I shout.

“Let’s just get her through kindergarten before we start planning her future in sports, okay?”

“You know better than me, but don’t forget, her father is a sports agent and her mother would make a magnificent trainer.”

Marissa laughs. “True. I guess we better get to work on that pool you’re going to put in for me.”

“Anything for you, baby girl.”

We stay out on the water until the sun sets and go into town for a quick dinner. Marissa lays her head on my shoulder. “I love this life. I can’t wait until our next baby comes. Do you want a boy or a girl?”

“It doesn’t matter. I’ll love them all the same. I love you most of all, little girl.”

“I love you too, Daddy. Forever and always.”

I look in the mirror at the two sleepy little faces in the back and smile. Yeah, this is it. There can’t be anything better than this. We pull into the parking lot of the seafood restaurant and unbuckle the kids from their seats.

“What about my fish, Daddy?” Michael asks.

“Your fish are safe and sound. We’re going to bring them home so we can cook them on the grill. You don’t mind letting someone else be the cook tonight, do you, son?”

“No, that’s okay.”

I carry him in one arm and hold Marissa’s hand with the other while Mandy grabs her waist. It’s a perfect ending to a perfect day in our perfect life.

The End.
