Watching the monitor, I took a slow, deep breath, seeing things settle down.

For all of, you know, two seconds.

Because A chose that exact moment to press his thumb into my clit as two of his fingers slid inside of me.

“Na-ah-ah, gotta keep breathing,” he reminded me when my body tightened and my breath caught in my chest at the sensation, making the numbers on the monitor go wonky again.

And that was how it went.

His fingers worked me until the monitor started to look a little threatening, then he slowed, waited until I tried to calm the chaos building inside my body. A task that got harder with each passing moment, as he drove me toward that edge. His thumb caressing. His fingers stroking.

“There,” A murmured, voice soft, as my walls tightened around his fingers. “Come for me,” he demanded.

And just like that, I did, biting down on my lip to keep from crying out as A’s fingers kept working me through it, driving me up.

I didn’t fully notice the monitor letting out a little warning sound until I heard the door being opened.

Andres was quicker, though, his hand leaving my panties, and curling into a fist on my hip.

“She was having a nightmare,” he said, lying smoothly to the nurse who hurried in.

“I’m not surprised after what you’ve been through, you poor thing,” she said, walking over to look at the monitor. “You look a bit flushed,” she added, reaching out to touch my forehead. “But you don’t feel warm. Let’s just check your temperature to be sure,” she said.

It didn’t escape me that A was trying to hide a smile and cover a laugh with a cough as he climbed off the bed while the nurse fussed over me.

“Does she need all of that still?” A asked, waving toward the monitor.

“I can ask the doctor,” the nurse said.

“Appreciate that,” A said, and it was my turn to press my lips together to keep from smirking.

“Why does it matter? It’s not like we can have sex here.”

“No? Why not?” he asked, and my pussy clenched hard at the heated look he was giving me then.

“Well, nosy nurses for one,” I told him.

“Not if I’m telling ‘em you’re resting.”

“And the whole… ribs thing,” I said, though they felt a lot better after the orgasm. If I’d realized how good of a pain reliever that would be, I might have asked him to give me one or two the night before.

“Ways to work around everything,” he said, eyes warm as he moved back to the bed, then climbed back in with me.

“What are you doing?”

“Catching some sleep. Got a big day tomorrow.”

“Can I admit that I don’t like the sound of that?”

“Yeah, ma. But it ain’t gonna change what I gotta do,” he said, getting under the blanket with me, then rolling onto his side facing me, his face in my neck, his arm casually draped over my stomach. Like we’d slept like this a thousand times before.

“I know,” I agreed. “I just wish you didn’t have to do it alone.”

“What? You wanna help?” he teased. “It’s dirty business.”

“No,” I admitted. I was someone who… understood that sometimes organizations had to do ugly things to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. But that didn’t mean I wanted to be a part of it.

We fell into silence then, just listening to the TV.

I was almost out when a thought had me jolting fully awake.

“What is it?” he murmured, sounding as sleepy as I felt. Maybe even more so. And why wouldn’t he be? He’d been up kidnapping and torturing people while I’d been lounging in a luxury hospital bed.

“The dogs. What about the dogs?”

To that, he lifted up to look down at me, a soft smile playing with his lips.

“Really coming around to them, huh?” he asked. “Don’t worry, mama, I got them out of there. They’re safe.”

“But are they alone?”

“Just for a few hours. I took ‘em out before I came here. I’ll head back over in the morning.”

“Why can’t I go to them?” I asked. “Really, I don’t need to be here. All my bloodwork is fine. I feel okay. I mean, sore. But okay.”

To that, he let out a sigh.

“If the doctor agrees that you can leave in the morning, I will take you there.”

“Where is there?” I asked.

“Somewhere safe,” he said.

“How safe?”

“No one knows it exists. The dogs have a bathroom spot on the roof that is fenced off so no one can see up. Even if someone was looking, they wouldn’t see ‘em. Walls are reinforced. So are the windows. Plenty of supplies. Weapons. Everything you could need to hole up for a while.”

“You as in just me?” I asked, wincing at how needy that sounded.

“No, ma. I need a place to rest too. Between shit. Can I sleep now?” he asked, nuzzling into my hair.
