“Am I missing something?”
Her eyes met mine, and she huffed. “Yes. If you’re going to ruin my panties, you should have an extra pair with you. This is your responsibility from now on.”
Oooooh. “You don’t have any extras here?”
McKenna tossed me an annoyed glare. “No. I forgot to stock up after I had to use the last pair.”
Remembering why she’d needed the extra underwear put a smug smile on my face.
“Stop being so cocky, Jeremy,” she snapped. Then her demeanor shifted, and she suddenly looked calm and collected. “Oh, well. I’ll go clean up, and I guess I’ll have to spend the rest of the gallery opening going commando.”
What the fuck? “Over my dead body.” My tone was dark and menacing, but she knew I would never hurt her, so she just blinked innocently at me.
“Well, then you come up with another solution.”
I pointed at her, glaring in warning. “You sit your pretty little ass right there while I take care of this. Don’t leave this office, or you’ll walk around with my handprint on your ass for a week.”
McKenna tried not to smile and I groaned as I spun around and left the office. I needed to find a new punishment. She liked being spanked too much.
I ran to the drugstore and returned in less than ten minutes. McKenna was right where I’d left her, and I beamed at her. “Good girl.”
“I know you. There’s no chance you would let me walk around without underwear in public. And I don’t want to miss my own show, so this was the smart move.”
I grinned as I walked toward her. “Very good, baby. I think you need a reward.”
“Oh?” She perked up and jumped to her feet. My girl loved surprises. “Like what?”
“We’ll stop at Magnifico’s on the way home.” It was her favorite ice cream place.
“Yes!” McKenna bounced on her toes and clapped.
I loved that my wife found joy in such small things. We both appreciated the lifestyle that our money could buy us, but over the years, she’d reminded me that memories and happiness don’t have to be tied to how much they cost.
With a wide smile, I pulled my wife into my arms and kissed her until she was breathless. “But I get to eat mine off you,” I crooned, enjoying the shiver that shook her body.
“If you insist,” she sighed dramatically, looking extremely put out.
I tossed my head back and laughed heartily before kissing her forehead and murmuring, “I love you, McKenna Bardot.”
“I love you, too, Jeremy,” she whispered. “Thank you for being my not-so fake fiancé.”
