Needing something sturdier, I turn us around and step off the treadmill. Her back hits the wall, giving me a grip to fuck her how we both want—hard and fast and deep. Her fingers tug on my hair, and our mouths collide as I fuck her like I’m possessed. I can’t remember ever wanting a woman as much as I want Savannah. The thought scares the shit out of me, so I push it to the side, refusing to focus on anything but the here and now.

Her orgasm hits her quick, and when her walls choke me like a fucking vise grip, I have no choice but to follow. Once she’s milked me dry, she releases a harsh breath, then opens her eyes.

“Well, that’s one way to start the day,” she murmurs, a small, sated smile gracing her lips.

“That’s the best way to start the day,” I correct, ignoring the deep truth mixed in my words.

I lift her off me and set her on her feet, then grab her shorts and underwear so she can put them back on. I’m tucking my dick back into my pants when she gasps, her eyes going wide.

At first, I assume someone’s come in and she’s freaking out, but then my gaze hits her still bare thighs, the ones that are dripping with my…

“Fuck!” I look at Savannah, who seems to be in shock. “I’m so sorry.”

I grab a bunch of paper towels from the holder and hand them to her.

“It’s like I can’t think when it comes to you,” I grumble, scrubbing my hand down my face. “I didn’t mean to… fuck.” I don’t even know what to say.

“It’s okay.” She quickly cleans up and puts her clothes back on. “I’m sure it’s okay. I wasn’t kidding when I said I had issues getting pregnant. We even charted and did temperature checks, but nothing worked.” She grabs her crap off the treadmill and then stops at the door. “Maybe this wasn’t a good idea. Lines feel like they’re being crossed…”

She’s probably right. I can’t seem to keep my head on straight when I’m around her, but for the first time in a while, I’m happy and in a good place, and I know it’s because of her. She brought Brody back to life, and she’s easy to talk to and be around. And maybe it’s selfish as hell, but I’m not ready to give her up yet. The smart thing to do would be to cut the sex out of it and go back to being friends, but the thought of going days without being inside her has me thinking like an idiot.

“Things got a little carried away, and for that, I’m sorry.” I close the distance between us. “But I’ll make sure that from now on, I’m more careful. I’ll use protection, and we’ll stick to sex only at night and in my condo. That way, the lines are firmly in place.”

She looks like she wants to argue, but thankfully, she just nods, forcing a smile. “Okay.” She juts her chin toward the door. “We should probably get going, or we’re going to be late for work.”

I don’t point out that I usually work out longer than this because it’s clear she’s just trying to make her escape.

“All right. Let’s go.”

“Did you fix shit with Savy?” Brody asks when he walks through the door, throwing his backpack and gym bag on to the couch.

“Watch your mouth,” I say over my shoulder from the kitchen where I’m putting together a salad to go with dinner. I have a few pieces of salmon and potatoes baking in the oven. It’s weird getting home early enough to make dinner, but it’s nice getting to spend my evening catching up with Brody, especially since he’s been busy all week between football practice, going to his mom’s, and hanging out with his friends.

He texted asking if he could have dinner at his friend’s after practice, but I told him I was already making dinner and to come home. I’ve barely seen him all week, and I miss him. It’s crazy to think I ever went weeks, sometimes months, without seeing him, and now I’m whining like a little kid about him being busy all week.

“Well, did you?” he asks, walking into the kitchen and bringing his foul body odor with him. “I want to invite her to my birthday party.”

“Damn, kid, you stink.” You’d think with it being cold as fuck outside, he wouldn’t sweat as much, but clearly, he does. “Go jump in the shower. Dinner will be ready soon,” I tell him, ignoring what he’s said about wanting to invite Savannah to join us for his birthday festivities. The fact is, I haven’t spoken to her all week. At first, my goal was to give her some space so she wouldn’t question our arrangement and end things. I even skipped the gym, opting to use the treadmill in my office instead, so I wouldn’t crowd her. But with every day that has passed, I’m wondering if I’m being stupid, and by not texting her, creating more of a rift between us. I promised her nothing would change between us, yet here I am making shit awkward by not texting her.
