How he managed to keep up with the general gossip running around Dirty Fuckers MC, he would never know. For a club that stayed out of all the crap that MCs usually delved into, it was a fucking miracle.
In the last couple of months, a couple of the brothers had returned from being on the open road and doing whatever shit they needed to. Adonis had returned from his final tour abroad. He’d come back not looking his usual happy self, several more scars and a mood to boot.
Grizzly was now back as well from taking another stint in Vegas for Ned Walker. He hadn’t been ready to leave the fighting life, and well, with his return, he was doing nothing but fucking his way through the club whores. It was like he thought they were going to run out of free pussy or something.
Then you had Big Daddy, Dimitri, and Charles who were also back. It was close to a full house.
Some of the guys liked to come and go. It was their thing not to linger in one town, but every now and then, a couple of the guys passed through, and some stayed from time to time. There was no need for them to stay in one place. It wasn’t like James demanded it of the brothers to be here all the time. He was a flexible prez. One Damon highly respected.
“Anna, she is so sweet,” Teri said. “Don’t tell her I said that. She is so hard-working. I can’t believe I nearly gave the room to this young preppy guy. Kitty totally knew what she was doing when she picked Anna.”
“Maybe get Kitty to pick you a new roommate?” Damon asked.
Teri gasped. “That is so awesome.” Again she went for her cell phone. “I’ve got to tell Anna about it right now.”
He checked the clock on the wall, and sure enough, it was close to three in the morning. Swiping her phone once again, this time he put it in his back pocket. “Not happening.”
“Hey, that’s my phone.”
She was so drunk, her words were slurred, and he also noticed her swaying as she sat. This wasn’t good.
He folded his arms and watched her.
“I need more to drink.” She slammed her hand on the table and got to her feet. This was where he sprang into action because she was all over the place, knocking into things and not really focused at all. “I don’t feel so good.”
He’d been waiting for this moment, and as she nearly went to face plant the floor, he grabbed her, pulling her into his arms.
Her eyes closed and she released a little moan.
“I’ve got you.”
Teri slumped, and he knew she had passed out.
“What am I going to do with you?” He pressed a kiss to her forehead and began to leave the diner.
Holding Teri in his arms, he managed to lock the shop up without dropping her, but it was close. Several times, he nearly had her on the floor. He refused to let her go though.
Carrying her up toward the clubhouse, he realized it wasn’t such a great idea as Teri was a little heavier than he thought she’d be, but no trouble. He passed Adonis, who was looking out at the night sky, and he gave him a single nod as he entered. The party had already died down. Several of the guys passed out naked with girls sprawled next to them.
He didn’t miss the partying way of life.
Damon carried Teri all the way up to his bedroom. Laying her down on the bed, he looked at her, passed out, and not wearing the frown that seemed to be constantly on display for the past couple of months.
He got it. The guilt wore her down, but everyone else had moved on. He hoped she did as well.
Shit happened. She didn’t need to constantly feel guilty. Lucy had moved on. Dane was back and moving on. It was time for Teri to understand she could move on as well.
The party animal she’d once been was long gone.
He’d seen the change inside her over the years, and if truth be told, she’d never really been a fun-loving club whore. Damon knew she’d slept with a couple of the brothers, and he was okay with that.
She’d stopped sleeping with them some time ago, and if he had a problem with that, he wouldn’t want to settle down with her, wouldn’t want Teri to be his. He knew her history as she had an inkling of his own.
He was no saint, nor was she.
Tucking her hair back, he knew deep down if she gave him a chance, he’d blow her mind the way she needed.
Until then, he was going to continue to take care of her. It seemed to him that no one else ever had.
