He spotted Anna sitting with a small boy against her chest.
“Hey,” she said.
Teri put her keys in the small dish, and it was like she forgot he was there. “How is he?”
“Exhausted. I … er, do you mind holding him while I finish with these?” Anna pointed to a couple of bottles of milk and what looked like a pump.
His amazing power of deduction, breast milk. He should have been a detective.
“Sure, of course not.”
Teri held her arms out, and Damon knew he shouldn’t watch her like this. Teri with a baby wasn’t something he needed to see, or wanted to, but as she took baby Cole into her arms, it opened up that coil of need he’d been trying to keep locked up tight.
She looked amazing. He wanted to give her his babies. To fill her pussy with all his cum and to knock her up. She’d finally belong to him.
She turned toward him with a sweet, content smile upon her lips. The sight of it alone lifted his spirits. The alcohol had nothing on seeing her with the baby.
“Hey, Cole, I’d like you to meet a very good friend, Damon.”
No, he wasn’t going to be a friend for long.
****
Anna finally got Cole down for the night, but she’d already eaten, leaving Teri and Damon alone.
Teri didn’t usually mind being alone with one or more of the guys. Damon was different. She didn’t see him as just a friend.
She could try to deny there wasn’t any attraction there, but that would be a lie. She was attracted to him. Even mildly drunk, he was still endearing and sweet. There were so many ways to describe him. For a long time now, she’d tried to put him in the friend column, but there was no way that was working.
“This is so good,” he said around a mouthful of food.
She’d cooked him a quick pasta with a tomato sauce. One of her speedy recipes when she wanted good food and not to order takeout. She tried to avoid ordering out as she knew deep down there was nothing better than home-cooked food.
“I’m glad you approve.” She sipped at her milkshake as she watched him eat. She’d already finished her portion and Damon had gone in for seconds. The man certainly knew how to eat.
At his request, she made him a cup of coffee, but there was no way she was going to allow him to head back to the clubhouse or his home, not that he spent much time at his place.
More often than not, the guys hung out at the clubhouse, staying in their rooms.
“I’m going to make up the spare bed for you,” she said.
“I can grab a taxi,” he said.
“Don’t be silly. There’s plenty of room, and Anna won’t mind. We haven’t found another roommate yet. Kitty is already vetting them, and we’re going to be checking them out soon enough.” She got to her feet. She had to move, do something other than watch him.
Her feelings for Damon were confusing.
She went straight to the nice-sized spare bedroom. At one point, the apartment had only been a two-bedroom, but the guys had seen the potential for making it a three not too long ago, and so had gotten the necessary permissions to turn the apartment into a three-bedroom. There had been a closet full of useless space, and skimming some of her and Anna’s room, they’d been able to get a modest-sized bedroom by removing the tiny window and installing a bigger window. The work hadn’t taken that long, not with all the guys involved. Kitty had been the spearhead of everything, thinking about a stranger coming to view the place. They’d already made the bed so anyone who came to view it would have the option of their own bedding or using the ones they got with the property.
Plumping up the pillows, she tried not to think of what could happen in the large bed. With the bedroom looking comfortable, she spun around to find Damon already there.
“You’re finished.”
“That I am. I’ve also done the dishes, so you don’t need to worry about any of that.”
She chuckled. “Right, I will let you get some sleep. I need to take a shower.”
“Right.”
Did he want to say anything? It looked like something was on his mind.
Teri didn’t linger. “Have a good night.”
She stepped out of the bedroom, pulling the door closed as she did.
It’s fine, Teri.
Nothing is going to happen.
You’re friends. This is not a big deal.
Why did it feel like a huge deal?
None of this made any sense. She went straight to the bathroom, turned on the shower, and stripped out of her clothes.
She stepped out of them and into the shower, tilting her head back as the water cascaded down around her, and she breathed out a pleasured sigh. It felt good to finally wash away the day’s grease and hard work. She loved working at the diner, enjoyed it even more that it all belonged to her, but it didn’t, not really. The diner was owned by the Dirty Fuckers MC.
