Thankfully, her car is still out front from our moment earlier this afternoon. I wonder if it's moved, but seeing the empty back seat tells me she's probably spent the day moving her things into her old room.
My eyes drift from the beat-up decade-plus-old car to the light from her second-floor bedroom window, beaming into the evening night. The sound of crickets chirping barely masks the heaviness of my footsteps. There's hesitation dragging me back because I'm not sure what the outcome's going to be when I tell Cody how I feel.
My dad's truck isn't in the driveway as I twist the knob to go inside the home I grew up in and potentially met the love of my life. There's a huge sack of laundry by the front door, leaning against the wall at the bottom of the stairs.
"Cody?" I call out to her. "Your bag's not a great replacement for that rickety bottom step."
"Sorry," she calls back and bounds toward the top of the steps in nothing but a tank top and loose shorts. My cock twitches at the sight as she points toward the bag. "Can you haul that up here? I've been trying to get myself together and thought I had more time before you got off work."
Without another word, I squat down to lift the bag over my shoulder and onto my back. Every step creaks under my feet until I reach the second-floor landing. Music blares from the bedroom beside the one I'm staying in as I lug the bag inside to see clothes all over the place.
Her body sways from side to side, with a hint of her ass cheeks peeking out the bottom of her shorts. Her smile is one I miss seeing as she rushes through her words. "I promise to be ready in like 15 minutes, Dean. Or wait, maybe 30? I already took a shower, just gotta find some clean clothes."
She takes a look at herself in the mirror hanging off the back of her closet door. I let the bag drop to the ground. I have to stop myself from taking Cody into my arms. Instead, I let my urges take over.
If there's a way for us to stay in tonight, I'm going to make sure that we do. "How about I just order us some pizza? There's some beer in the fridge, and we can relax until Dad gets home."
"He's not coming home," she says, holding up a piece of fabric that could be a dress or a sock.
"Why?"
"I spoke to him earlier. He said he's pulling a double at the plant. He even sent me money to order that pizza you just spoke about. Just like old times, right?" She giggles and continues to sort the surrounding piles of clothes.
"Pizza it is then. I'm going to hop in the shower, and I'll meet you downstairs." I give her a wink and head to my room, where it doesn't take long for me to get myself out of my work clothes.
The shower flies by, mostly because I don't want to stay in it too long. The idea of Cody in those loose cotton shorts tempts me to jerk off, but I don't want to release that tension down the shower drain. The only way I want to get off is by burying myself deep inside of her until she creams all over my cock.
I head downstairs just in time for the pizza to arrive and for Cody to place a few packs of beer on the countertop. She cracks one bottle open and takes it to the head. I find myself licking my lips while I watch her gulp down one swallow after another. A low soothing breath pushes through my lips as I go in for a slice.
"So, what brings you back to Tamworth, Cody?"
"The short answer?" She raises an eyebrow and sits her beer on the butcher block counter behind her. "I'm unemployed."
"Do you plan on staying or are you out of here on the first thing smoking?"
She shrugs. "I think the offer is going to have to be something insanely irresistible to get me to leave Tamworth again. This first entry into my career is one I'd happily erase."
"What about something insanely irresistible to make you stay?"
I move closer to her, taking a sip of my beer before standing in front of her, my arms crossing over my chest. The lust in her reaction is subtle with the soft licking of her lip.
Her eyes dart around before she finds the words to say, "There's only one insanely irresistible reason for me to stay in Tamworth, Dean. That will always be you."

DAKOTA
The opportunity to tell Dean exactly what's on my mind is too good to pass up. He has to know how I feel because he's right in a sense. For the right job, I'll leave Tamworth and won't look back.
